Hrmm... I wish they'd just let us get the factory HID without the RF sound system or the spoiler... kinda silly in my opinion that you have to get it all together. When I get the X, it will be my first NEW car, but is the whole "options package" thing typical when buying a new car?

I'm thinking I'd just get the HID & the Navi for options if I could...

I probably wouldn't even have gotten an Evo without the SSS option. I was seriously considering the STI, but the nice stereo and FAST key put the Evo over the top (STI has HIDs, so that was a wash). I'm still not sure I enjoy the attention the spoiler brings, but I'll get used to it.

The Rockford system is amazing as stock stereos go. I like the sound of a good system, but have no patience for the look or hassle of an aftermarket. The STI's stereo is borderline embarrassing.

The HIDs are brighter than the halogens on my Si, and the manual adjustment is nice for long car trips. The brights are insane. I've never said "Man, I wish these were brighter."

For $2k, the package was perfect for me, but don't be fooled. You're going to get 50 responses with 50 different answers.

From your statements, it seems like you don't really need those extras. Save that six grand and buy: a hid kit, portable navi, and a jvc hd radio unit for under six hundred; then take that $5400 for rims, coil-overs, and power mods.

You can always buy some of the optional parts later and have them installed at the dealer. I would really think about it if I were you. It sounds like you are having doubts about it, and if that's the case, you better not rush into them. If you have considered the stereo, I'd go to the dealership and see if you actually like it first. An aftermarket one is always an option, but if you are not into that sort of thing, then you have only two options.

I was thinking pretty much the same thing demonblackevo69. Maybe save the option $ & get rims, coilovers & exhaust off the bat. And then possibly install a sick as sound system in a few months when I save some cash & I'm not as excited about listening to the engine as much... lol

imo, an evo isn't an evo without a big wing, so i'm glad i got the SSS. factory HID's are awesome as well, and it's cool to be able to adjust the settings on that. system sounds good to me as well.

but the most important part is the FAST key. oh man, that is such a cool little feature, i don't think i can go back to a car without it. makes things much more simple. not sure if it was included in SSS or standard, anyone? anyways... i will be getting navi when i get a couple grand laying around. i had it in my old Si and it came in handy, and completed the look of the interior imo.

I say the SSS is probably the best deal. That's what I'm gonna get. Although I'm gonna ditch the factory HU for an Alpine unit and the front speakers for an amplified set of Infinity Kappa Perfect components.

i think its the aero kit that sold me to this car.

i was at the mitsu dealership looking to spend for a lancer DE! came across a red exo X with the aero kit and i was just star struck. couldnt get it off my mind until i went ahead and bought not the red but a PB they had coming, which ironically did not have the aero kit. hahaha

maybe in a year i will get the navi as well.

I'm going with SSS and Navi. It's a nice Navi setup and bluetooth can be added. All while looking nice and not having any extra ugly antennas. I like the Aero kit but it is pricey and as others have mentioned I'm sure there will be aftermarket copies or nicer items available very soon.

Oh man, you guys missed one of the best parts of the SSS package - the fast key! I thought I could care less about it but now that I'm used to not taking the key out of my pocket, it rocks. Fast key - FTW.

The dealer offered the Navi option for only $1K more so I took it. It looks well integrated and much better than w/o it.

I agree I was shopping the STI and EVO, but there was a GG EVO with all the Options. The Aero kit intantly grabbed my attention, and the interior looks on a whole new level with the nav system. (This is the best Nav system Ive ever had intergrated into the car and my last 4 cars that I have purchased had Navs.) I will say this Mitsu Nav is way better than BMW, Chevy, or Volvo.

I just picked up my EVO X Octane Blue w/ SSS and the aero kit.

I could have done without the aero kit but it looks nice especially the side skirts.

But the SSS package is honestly your best bang for the buck option. The sound system is amazing, HID (although not as bright as my VIII, I dunno guess it was cause i was driving through a rain storm this morning. Is still so much nicer than the regular yellow lights you get with any old car), the spoiler looks better than the low one, Im not a fan of low spoilers. But the best, i mean absolute best part of the SSS package is the FAST key system. I'll never go back to using a regular key to enter my car anymore.

All in all if your getting an evo to race, you could save the weight and not get any packages, but if you want some creature comforts get the SSS, you won't regret it.

Can you elaborate on how it's better? Just curious, I hear it's really good, just want to hear some more about some of it's cool features.

Also, is the Fast Key deal just another term for 'keyless entry' or is it something different?

The fastkey does kick @ss. The car has sensors around it and if you are within a couple feet it will sense your fastkey signal. As soon as I put my hand near the driver or passenger door handle, the car unlocks with my keys in my pocket. You sit in to drive and turn a knob and the car starts. There is a button on the door handle to lock the car. Basically, you take your keys out to open your front door (house, apt, condo etc.).

Yeah, I hate having to take the keys out to open the house door. I want to touch the door and have it open. Stupid house!
