What VIVID does on the weekends
What I did this weekend since I wasnt at Vivid working:
I rebuilt my "drop in piston" motor. I didnt do the rings right last time so they didnt seal right (too tight) as you can see in the first few pics.
Head... no bent valves!!!

Some carbon build up

Seems as if the top ring didnt seal well

Do a slight hone,

Cleaning, take the pistons to the polishing wheel to make them silky and smooth

Checking end gap and filing

New valve seals

Assembly...

It took a total of 19 hours. Taking time making sure it was done right. Will see after break in how it does. It was a long/but fun weekend. VIVID RACING can supply you all the parts necessary for a build like this. We can also provide first hand experience for install questions
This is a great "cheaper" alternitive to a full tilt motor build. A build like this should hold 600 whp with no problem.
Thanks for looking!

nice job Evan!! great pics and insight to what goes on inside a "drop in piston" engine. perhaps you could show what pistons, rods, rings you used and maybe some MSRP on the parts total including gaskets and such...??

I used the pistons that came out of the motor. Arias... I took them out to see little to no scuffing on the side wall, so I had a good idea that my piston to wall clearance was ok. I cleaned the carbon off the top, then polished the pistons. After they sat in soapy water for 30 min I scrubed and rinsed them. Good as new
