Warranty Issues With Tuning
Warranty Issues With Tuning
Hey I am thinking about doing some minor mods to my MR ie. Catback exhaust, IC piping etc. Also installing gauges. Just very minor things. Anyway my question is what , if any consequences has anyone seen for such minor mods. Also please feel free to post any warranty issues for any mod. What about ECU Flashing etc. If this is a repost sorry but i am interested in the flack people have caught for all different types of mods. Thanks alot.
Lol @ everyone even thinking this car has a warranty.
It's an evo x. Mitsubishi basically built room for you to mod it lightly and safely. Enjoy it. If you're safe and take care of the car you wont need a warranty anyway.

There are ZERO proved instances of any Evo ever being denied warranty due to checksum number alone. They don't check it, they don't use it.
One sure fire way to raise a red flag is to drive into the dealership with a manual boost controller. Another is posting your mods in an open forum, then removing them, and expecting Mitsubishi employees to not be looking at these posts. Mod at your own risk; any and all things that increase power beyond stock can and will effect your warranty. Use your brains, people.
maybe you can help me understand how a dealership employee, be it service manager at local dealership or warranty cyber cops from mitsubishi corporate, can tie my screen-name to vin# of my car?
Sum count is not a valid argument argument on this site, and I am beyond tired of seeing it.

Now, given that this is my 2nd Evo...and both are modified...I go into the purchasing process knowing that I will not have a Warranty. Bottom line is that if you don't have the money set aside just in case something happens....don't mod. Now, this goes for ANY car you buy. With cars like the Evo, manufacturers know that people will modify the car...it's just common sense.
The Evo is a great car stock...but as the saying goes: "If you wanna play...you gotta pay."
