Just out of curiosity, how much do the RobiSpec springs lower the car? I'm thinking of trying the RobiSpec's the second time around. I had Swifts on my frist Evo and LOVED them. I just want to get an idea of how the Robi springs would look in comparasion to the Swifts. Just wondering if it's worth trying something new.

The first Evo I bought had Tein's. I switched to Swifts and it was like a new car. This Evo has Tanabe springs. They're better than the Tein springs, they ride comfortably, but there is defiantly room for improvment. So how much do the Robi spring lower the car? I remember reading 1" all around.

interesting
any suggestions on how to set up my Varient3s

These are my RobiSpec springs with Perrin RSW on full stiff. I feel I out grew them and decided to move to Ohlins DFVs.

If anyone is looking for a Bilstein RobiSpec combo...... PM me:

Well if you need that much help installing springs which is very simple, then you may scan over the many how tos on this forum, like i said support for springs is not really neaded as to coilover set up which is highly recommended. I see where your coming from but springs i mean my 13 yr old cousin can install , as far as slapping on springs well theres not much too it so ya i did just slap them on. Then i got an alignment at ntb to my specs, no need to call in for help for something simple.

So i agree robis help would be great for coilovers but springs are easy.
Either springs are great but the swift imo are superior.

thanks for the pics.....
what track is that? Its beautiful. Looks like great topo
as well as smooth runoffs (where i spend too much time)

"I feel I out grew them and decided to move to Ohlins DFVs?"
how'd you decide on the Ohlins?
vs RobiSpec's Varient3?

One thing not mentioned in this thread-
much is said about the desired driving char. of the Evo and
how to correct it to the desired over-steer needed for the track
not mentioned is-
the driver's style, importance of seat-time first and learning how to drive to very consistent times, much less the skill needed to be able to read the fine tuned char of such a finely tuned Evo...

I've seen equally skilled drivers w/decades of experience, equal times, and stratospherically different set ups...they would be unable to switch cars and get equal times....

The reason I moved to Ohlins was the following:

1. Camber was limited to about -2* on the Bilstein/RobiSpecs
2. On the track 255 BFG R1s were overworking the suspension.
3. I also had a little rubbing here and there (the BFGs are 10" wide)

That's it otherwise they felt perfect. I may even go back if I decide this suspension is too stiff for a daily driver. They certainly don't soak the day to day events as well as the previous setup.

I went with Ohlins mainly because I couldn't find anything bad about them. I had read a couple threads where people moved from KW's to DFV's and prefered the DFV's.

As you noted drive style is important but I have found that many variables can be adjusted via alignment and tire pressures.

As for the track I think there are actually two shown.... Shawano and Blackhawk Farms.

kelly, if you can get robi out here to do alignments on a weekend, your welcome to use the new space we got at the shop to get an alignment party going. we've got plenty of parking, little less then 3k sqft of shop space, a lift, all the tools we'll need. just no alignment rack or any of that jazz.

(p.s. make a track day out of it too ) we are going to eagles canyon on the 26th of september (evo meet) and again on the first week of october for the NASA event.
