JDM Evo VIII MR vs JDM Evo IX MR Headlight Comparison *Pics*

For those of you who are on the fence about which JDM set to get. I've seen a few threads discussing them, but no real life visual comparison.

JDM VIII (right headlight, flat black), JDM IX (left headlight, gloss black)

Personally, the 8 MR heads are by far nicer looking. Although, they both look much better in person.

Hope this helps.

One is flat black and the other is chrome/gloss black. You can tell the most difference in the 3rd picture..

Flat / Matte black comes out better in photos. No reflections

I am no expert here, but wont a more reflective surface help produce a brighter light?

^^ Light spread and brightness comes from the actual projector itself. The housing around it just there for 2 reasons:
- Make the HLs look pretty &
- hide the internal components of the HLs

If you can notice a difference in bright between a VIIIMR & IXMR HL then you must have superman vision

Good to know, I was looking for an explanation myself so thank you. The person's headlights that I did observe must have been old or worn out, they definitely seemed "not as bright" as the others .

Plus the bulbs would have to be a lot further back for the finish on the housing to effect the actual light.

if looking at the pics, he one on the right looks gloss and the one on the left looks flat but in your description it's opposite.

That's because the description states which side it would be mounted on the car. Duh!
