It's out. Everyone at the NJ dyno day has been updated with it. Finally got the idle smoothening to work with the launch control. Now I'm just working on launch control logic (rpm hysterisis, gear selection, etc,.) The hard stuff is done, in other words. If you don't plan on using launch control, the XEDE can be updated now. All you'll need is a wire to push into one of the pin terminals the black XEDE connector. This wire needs to be brought to 12v battery to set the XEDE into boot mode. Then the new firmware can be updated via XUpdate. Takes about 15 seconds. HOWEVER, some settings will have to be changed via XMAP. For one, logarithmic MAF scaling will have to be disabled. And the analog MAF bypass will have to be reset to somewhere around 5% (below which the MAF is untouched and straight-thru).
Or the XEDE can be sent to us directly and we can do it for you
Instructions are being written right now to make the upgrade easy and trouble-free.

Awesome!
Shiv,
Great! Let us know where we can get the firmware from, and the precise steps to upload it. Sounds like I might have a new firmware by this weekend!

Yay... exciting. I just did an irish jig for you guys up north.. cool it was, sexy it wasn't. Ya can't wait for the write up, just go detailed. I always lose my mind when updating firmware, or the oldstyle bios updates..
... I like meditate before i do it, and pray to the update gods.

All together now...
Please let this work.....please let this work.....please let this work!!!!!
I offer this synthetic oil, chewing gum and my Dr. Dre (The Chronic) liner notes in hopes Dear Lord that this ECU burn goes off without a hitch. Thank you!!!

WHat does this mean?
Okay dont laugh but how will this help? I have no idea what this means, "The MAF-depedant bypass works perfectly, BTW. In fact you have a choise to make the MAF bypass triggered by RPM, MAF, TPS or MAP."
Any help?

With the new firmware, we simply bypass all analog signals (MAF as well as MAP) during light load (idle and cruise conditions) so that we do not have to rely on signal replication when the signal we are trying to replication (MAF) is so small/low frequency. We can set the threshold for this analog bypass as a function of MAF, MAP, RPM or even TPS (if used for some reason). FWIW, I set it so that at anything less than 5% load/MAF, the analog bypass is activated. It works perfectly. That is, all the cold start stumbles that some have experienced (esp. with cams) is gone and idle (both cold and warm) is smooth as it would be with a completely stock ECU. This keeps OBD-II diagnostics (esp. for misfire) very a happy.
The other neat thing about this approach as opposed to us rescaling the MAF response on the XEDE for greater low load resolution is that we didn't have to revise any of the baseline files (which, IMHO, work to well to scrap and start from scratch again). All the maps still apply so the transition from old to new firmware should be invisible with the exception of the aforementioned improvements and the launch control.
As for launch control, it works. We've tested it on on a few local cars last week. Those in NJ have the ability to do it. HOWEVER, we need to make some simple logic changes to RPM hysterisis and upshift parameters so that the launch rpm isn't activated on each accompanying upshift (which is currently the case). Once I get back from my Portland tuning trip on Monday, I'll finally have time to wrap it up and finalize the firmware features. Quite literally, I've been on the run for the last 3 weeks doing tuning trips with only 2-3 days of week at the shop.
One thing to look forward to with launch control is the ability to build as much as 5psi of boost in neutral just before the launch! One the clutch is let out, WHOOOM, the car just takes off like a bat out of hell!
Cheers,
