One Lap of America
Hi guys,
As promised, we're going to be running One Lap of America this year in our shop car. It's a pretty grueling racing series.
check it out!
Anyone else on this forum going? If so, let me know and we can talk about prep. This way, we can help each other out by not having to carry the same extra parts
Al/Dynoflash- You're still going, right?

Shiv,
Best of luck with the great race. I've read with much interest in Car & Driver about this race for years. I can't wait to see how your Evo fairs! Remember to evade the po-lease for a multitude of traffic tickets!
Also, with Vipers, GT2's, and C5 Vettes, you'll need all the luck you can get. Just PLEASE don't make print by piloting the Evo into a track wall - for schnizzle.

The event I'm planning to run with the Evo is the Targa Newfoundland. This is a 1000 km all-tarmac rally in a beautiful setting. No Evos have run this event yet, but there's a rumor that there will be an Evo 4 entered this year.
It would be tough to place well in an Evo as the event favors vintage cars (in terms of classing). But it looks like a blast! I have to do this before leaving Canada.

Thanks for the kind words guys!
To give you an idea of how tough of a test One Lap is, when was the last time you drove any high modified, super high-output, highly boosted turbo car for 6000 miles and 8 track events without running into a mechanical issue. No cracked turbo manifolds. No spun rod bearings. No detonation. No ABS malfunction. No popped intercooler hoses. Nothing. Nada. Well that's exactly what we're hoping for... fingers crossed
It also looks like our daily progress is also going to be covered on the radio. More on that later
The link in the first post shows all the tracks that we'll be running. And they, literally, are scattered all over North America. That means that there is a good chance that many evom members will be driving distance from at least one of them. If so, make sure to come and watch. Nothing better than seeing an EVO spit 6 foot long flames out the tailpipe as it gobbles up Vipers down the main straight.

I think it's great that our cars are being represented in the One Lap. I would love to see other tuners join in but I can see how this would be a major commitment in time and money and not everyone has the ability to participate.
Regardless, good luck Shiv and I hope you kick butt and give our cars a reputation boost here in the States.

This is going to be cool, it will be great to represent the Evo among all those great cars... hopefully you'll put updates online often too. Unfortunately, it's not coming close enough to DC for me to check it out. Any idea if any of this will be on tv (Speed?)?
this is awesome, it's too far away for me to come also, but i am sure am hoping you guys lay down the smack on those vipers and vettes!!! thanks for representing us shiv, i'm sure you guys will do awesome.
