Buying a salvage 9 MR

Buying a salvage 9 MR
I've owned 3 evos...an 8, 9 and an X. I choose the 9 out of all as my favorite and want another. I am currently looking at a WW 06' MR with about 90k miles for 17,500. It's from a reputable dealer and it has a salvage title. I haven't checked out the car but he says everything looks very good besides normal wear and tear. The dealer is reputable and knows evos. He had it inspected / tuned by a reputable evo shop and they said it checked out with no issues and gave me there number. Problem is, this car is on the other side of the country and I won't be able to look at it in person, only via a Skype session and it would have to be shipped. I know it is a no-go to buy a vehicle without test driving / seeing it for myself but I haven't found this deal and specifically what I wanted in years up until now. The CARFAX was provided and says the 1st owner hit a still object with airbags NOT deployed. Car had 2 more owners with no issues and all scheduled maintenance done (including timing belt.) The car is basically stock. What do ya'll think?

Sounds like a bad idea to me. I've never heard of a lender that will give you a loan on a salvaged title either, so i assume your gonna outta pocket the cost plus shipping? Doesn't seem worth it to me just to maybe save a few thousand.

I live in Oklahoma and bought my X sight unseen from a dealer in Georgia and everything went smooth and the car was exactly as they said. I had them send tons of pictures, the car fax, and all documentation they had on it. I don't have a problem buying a car sight unseen, the salvage part is what scares me. I would pass just because I would want to personally inspect any salvage title car I might buy.

If you want a salvage evo buy a wrecked car from a site like https://www.iaai.com/ and get it repaired yourself. At least then you know how/what was damaged and that it was repaired correctly.

Where is it located at I. Washington State I'm in Oregon and can maybe go look at it if it's not like all the way across Washington it is. I could even test drive it for you and let you know how it drives

Only way I would ever buy a salvage titled car is having all of the documentation along with pictures of the previous damage as well as the entire repair process. That way I can see for myself if corners were cut. There are awesome deals out there on salvaged titled cars that were repaired properly and there's nothing wrong with that. 17k is a bit steep for a salvaged titled 9 with that many miles. Unless I've been gone for too long and the values on the 9's went up.

Hey I appreciate the information everyone. Figured I'd slap these images on here anyway. They got mixed, obviously, but I found the original wrecked pics from the auction site and the car was rebuilt in CA back in 2009. Had two owners afterwards. CARFAX says no airbag deployment and the wreckage pics show no evidence. It's in Bellevue WA. Yeah cost out the door would be 17200 and like 1200 to ship. I appreciate everyone's time and input, I'm pretty sure i'm off of it now.
