Having a problem with cop kit after installed
Hello there.Yesterday I installed a brand new COP in my evo 8 (jdm model). Once everythjng was plugged I started it and idled fine. After about 10 secs around of idling engine shut off. To start the engine again, i had to turn ignition off completely, then on.its like is losing the ignition signal after 10 sec, each time i started engine. I am running stock ecu and there is no cutting/alteration in factory/stock wiring/looms.

Can you post a picture of both sides of one of the coils? It's very hard to spot a fake coil, but I can tell from a picture. I actually bought a fake ebay "Denso" coil just so I can show people what to look for. They're pretty good copies, but there are a couple easy giveaways.

There's your problem. Fake Denso coils. Here's how you can tell the difference. There are two different part numbers for Denso coils that look very similar. 90919-02240 and 90919-02265. Both of these part numbers are great coils and are used by name brand ignition systems. The pictures below will explain the difference and how you can tell yours are fake.
Authentic Denso 90919-02240 coil
90919-02265 will have a not have a bend in the same piece and it will have more numbers on the back side.
Authentic Denso 90919-02265
Additional lettering on the back
If you have a mix of these two pieces, you have a fake. Here are pictures of a fake Chinese replica coil purchased from ebay.
wrong part number.
Missing lettering and slightly different color
The fake coils have a higher resistance than the genuine and will cause the exact issues you're describing with JDM Evos. They'll work on USDM cars, but won't perform as well and fail quickly. If you got these from Ebay I'd suggest requesting a refund. These will not work with your car. I hope this helps! Let me know if I can help with anything else.
- 90919-02240 will have a bend in the piece that connects the top of the coil to the bottom ring as seen in the picture. This part will not have any other numbers on the opposite side.
