Notification of PM

EDIT: edited due to being proven wrong: bottom portion remains.

also, once inside the forum, the PM notification area is a little messed up. It tells me that I have unread messages. then tells me I have a total of 0 messages. then when i check theres nothing.

There is if you get one. It should say something to the effect of "Private messages (1)" right above "Enter Forums". I'm assuming it works the same whether you log into the forums through lancerforums.com or evolutionm.net. Maybe it's slightly buggy, but it works for me.

EDIT: If you don't have any new PM's when you first sign on you won't see this at all.

now with 1 message it reads as follows:
---
ez4me2c3d - You have 1 new message(s) since your last visit.
(You have 0 unread messages and 1 total messages in all your folders.)

as apposed to no messages:
---
ez4me2c3d - You have new message(s) since your last visit.
(You have unread messages and 0 total messages in all your folders.)

BOTH are telling me that i have messages in my box. see what im say'n now?

PS notice I edited my first post thanks to Hobie... I never get PM's so this is new to me.

Happy to help. It took me a while to adjust too. I'm used to old LF stle.

The wording is a little awkward I suppose, but I guess them's the breaks.

So, are you saying that if I didn't have any of PMs when I logged on originally, next time I get one, I am still not going to see it?

Also, sometimes I do see that I have a message or two, but it would be nice to have a ling to go to see them right away, instead of going to the "user cp" and then get them.

Thanks

That is because you stil have a massage in the Send box. Once you delete that one too, you will be back to zero!

It should like this when you have 0 new messages and a few old ones in the pm box:

KK - You have 0 new message(s) since your last visit.
(You have 0 unread messages and 110 total messages in all your folders.)
You can have 1 new message and 0 unread. The reason is the "new" comes from the last login you have vs. the time of the last pm you received. If you logout and login, that should go away and say 0 for both instead.

So is it possible to have an active link to your PM box once you get something like this from the same page?

Yeah, I can make that change. I think the VBulletin developers made the link point to usercp because they were thinking of new pms only.

Actually, the link already points to the private messages box. Do you mean the email link?

Here is what I had in mind (see picture bellow). If that one would be an active link, that would bring us directly to our messages, that would be great!!

Thanks

Oh I see. I'll make that a link as well then. I ended up hacking the file and template so if you have email notifications of pms enabled, you'll get a direct link to the message and a preview in the email so you don't have to click the link and login to read it.
