Talking FAQ

KK, i like the FAQ section. It gives people the right background on any potential problem.

hoever a few comments:-

tyres
Yoko A032 are a track day tyre (tho' road legal). Fine for those who drive on the minit at all times and don't mind how long there tyres last (Claudius ring any bells ). Personally I wouldn't consider them as I do alot of motorway miles and need my tyres to last.

I'm not sure that you should suggest that the Toyo's and F1's are no good. They may not to be up to the same harsh treatment as the A032R but there are many who are happy with their performance.

It would be worth adding some comment to this effect as not everyone drives ***** out all the time. For example i quite like my AVS sport although i know Claudius knackered his very quickly. Horses for courses etc.

brakes
Godspeed in the UK also do new disks that have not warped.

Good points. I'll add them to the FAQ. Do you have any more info on the Godspeed brakes.

Toyos seem o.k. from the thread pattern and are probably comparable to s-O2s, but still rubbish. Maybe Oli could write a tire section for more moderate users.... I'll probably get the AVS or Pirellis as I'll do a reasonable amount of driving next year (probably France, maybe Finland). Damn, I need a new set of wheels with A032Rs on them Well, they were on the shopping list anyway... Maybe my money will stretch enough for SLs with Ao32Rs, CTF discs and Ferodo 2500 pads allround.... that's about 1700Eur for wheels with tires, 300 Eur for the discs and 250 Eur for the pads, makes a hell of a lot of money!!!
Looks less in Euros though

yup, i'll write an old woman's guide to the evo

Seriously though I'm surprised you like the Pirelli's so much Claudius, ive not tried them on an evo but other crs where ive had them they would understeer badly on turn in with little power on and never felt very planted.

Did scoobymike try the Falkens? Is seem to remember someone on the mlr saying they were good but a bit noisy. AVS are good for a granny like me as they are nice and quiet.

The granny list would be as follows:-
S01 noisy, poor grip, last ages
Yoko AVS quiet, good feedback, well planted, dry grip good, wet not so good, too soft for extreme use
S03 reasonable compromise between grip/wear, grip in dry not brilliant, wet grip good, too soft for extreme use
Toyo T1-s ?
falken FK-451 noisy, grip dunno?

The p zero assimmetrico is really good!

I found the avs to be good too, with a quiet stiff side wall, good dry grip and it oversteer more than other tyres.

The Bridgestone s03 should be very good in wet an maybe not really precise in dry.

I think than anyone of these is ok for a road tyre.
