I do not care to learn about the history of who worked for what vendor and what vendor developed the fuel rails for sale first, the rules here on EvoM are simple in regards to selling items.

Private for Sale is only for individuals selling private items not for profit. There are two exceptions to this rule-

1) You can sell items for profit only if its incidental (i.e. received the item as a present or was handed down), you cannot sell your items purely for profit.

2) Group buys are permitted but with strict guidelines. At the very least please receive permission from the vendor itself, and no profits or deep discounts are to be received.

Rule 2 allows from some leeway in the case of organizing a group buy for a product a current vendor does not offer. However if a vendor begins selling a similar product whether it be blackened headlights or in this fuel rails, you will need to seek their permission to continue selling in competition (or maybe work with this vendor in buying the product for the Group Buy).

Group Buys are also not for a continuous period of time. They must have a defined start and end date as well as an estimated ship date for the product in question. Additionally group buys in general are at the discretion of the moderators here on EvoM. Problematic (and often reported) group buy threads are likely to be deleted.

We will also not accept the following statements as an exemption from seeking vendor status (we've heard them all before):

"I am not selling for a profit"
"I am not a registered business, I do this only as a hobby"
"I only have xx quantity to sell" and my favorite:
"I actually am not a business anymore, and im selling old stock at a loss if you cant already tell from my very low prices"

The long and short of this can be summed up with the following statement:

If you are interested in getting a vendor account, please follow this link http://corp.evolutionm.net/advertise.php?s=

The originial thread was deleted for a) continuous selling which is NOT a group buy and b) other PAYING vendors on the site offer similar products and complained about the GB.

We on EvoM fully encourage businesses to do business on our forums. But in order to sell, businesses must be registered with this site. At the end of the day these registered businesses are the ones that foot some of the bill which pay for the bandwidth and hardware that power this forum we all derive utility from. Going forward continuous group buys will be deleted if they fail to comply with the site rules. Finally vendor status available is available at several different levels; both in price and features.

Feel free to drop me or the other mods here a PM to discuss further.

I will drop you a pm. The main issue here is that this only became an issue once (the same day infact) one of the vendors on the board started selling the product.

So it was ok to allow the GB to go on until the day that a vendor decides to make the product?

No one is saying that we do not appreciate the paying vendors here who keep the site open for all our collective benefits. We understand the need to protect their interests but its the way it which it is done sometimes that is hard to understand.

Google - the rules make sense and are fair.

But at the same time, look at it from a regular person's standpoint. The timing begins to look very suspect. If you had cracked down earlier or even later, it would look better than doing it on the same day. It was as if EvolutionM said "OK, RRM is now selling them, so you can't anymore."

Once again, I just want you to see what we see.

PS - I don't know if things have changed, but last I heard, the pricing was prohibitive for guys doing things in their garage. Any chance you guys would do something like a "bronze vendor" status for the little guys?

Well, I don't plan on reading this whole thread except for the fact that GP's thread got shut down because he wasnt a vendor....

So I am guessing that means that what evodave is doing is also not according to the rules. Don't get me wrong, what he is doing is incredible, but he is also making a large profit on the work he does since it is all labor and no parts. Shouldn't he need vendor status as well?

I am not taking sides here but I think that the rules should apply to evo guys as well as lancer guys, not just the lancer guys like it has been.

There was nothing underhanded or vendor driven. Of course the Evom "Black Ops" crew will get blamed for this. I closed then deleted the thread and here are the reasons.

A member (not a vendor reported the thread) and I had not seen it before (dont' read everything). The originator was basically setting up shop with brochures and product announcements. The thread was establishing precedent that would encourage others if we let it go. Our forums would start to look like a flea market as more members decided to peddle their special products. Please read Google's post in this thead concerning the guidlines and reasons.

The registering of a vendor is a two way street and requires that person to provide personal information to ensure we know who you might be dealing with. I don't have a solution that would allow a "cottage" industry to develop here without competing with our paying vendors. It could be a moderating nightmare.

I guess this is where the line gets drawn between a community of enthusiasts and a business. The forum is turning more into a business in my eyes.
