Evo Rant...

To all those who got their Evo's... Congratulations

But I have some steam to release here. Everytime someone gets a new Evo they just HAVE to create a new thread to advertise it. I wouldnt mind if they had some pictures of it in the thread, but just dont post that u got ur Evo in a thread without pictures, anyone can lie about that. There should be 1 big thread for people getting their new Evo's. Im tired of coming to the main page and seeing 1/2 to 3/4 of the posts on the front page is "YAY I GOT MY EVO!!!" or "The Evo has landed"... etc

Same thing goes for the Dyno's done on the Evo. There are COUNTLESS threads that have different dyno information and should be all merged into 1 big 1 as should the Evo Arrival announcements. Please keep the forums clean and use 1 thread for 1 topic. Thats my $0.02 err... (checks wallet) I mean thats my $200.

</rant>

P.S. If this is in the wrong category, please move it to the correct one. Thanks.

So should people not post to introduce themselves when they join? Or should they just all find the same welcome thread and write there. Honestly, I believe peoples skin is getting way to thin around here. Who cares if there is a ton of threads on people owning Evos, or dynoing Evos, etc. Guess what, if you dont like it, you dont have to read it.

Im not trying to be an *** to you, but I mean this is a forum, it doesnt have to be proper. Things can be a bit ragged here, remember its just people coming together to discuss Lancers......

No kidding Iamkar33m. I mostly see nothing but evo posts, and its either some guy who got ripped on his pre-evo purchase or someone who just got one. I don't see much Lancer posts anymore.

See, thats what im saying. Threads of people getting ripped by Mitsu dealers and Threads of people getting new Evos and people *****ing about how their Evo is gonna take longer to come it and people *****ing about low dyno results flood the entire forums. It's not fun watching all these people being ingrateful about owning an Evo or even attempting to buy an Evo. I LOVE this forum, I even have 3 Evom.net decals on my car, but the forum is being cluttered WAY too much with this Evo stuff.

The same thing happened when a lot of us got our Lancers. Chalk it up to new car pride and let it slide.

I agree it's annoying, but you can't be upset at someone for trying to share the excitement of having a new car. At least you don't have to read em all.

Also, keep in mind we have an Evo General forum for these kinds of topics. Those topics shouldn't be tolerated in the tech forums where you should expect the performance topics to arise.

The general forum is almost like a chat in a sense, but gearer towards the Evo or Lancer (depending on which one your in).

Well,
I agree With Hobie and Mark at the fact that it is restricted to 1 forum and that we Lancer folks dont HAVE to read it. One of the greatest features of this site has the hot topics on the main (front) page of the site. That is what I am saying is cluttered with all this Evo Dyno stuff and the Evo Arrival stuff and the Evo Price ranting stuff. I used the front page before the evo came out to see the hot topics on the forums. I guess I am kinda saddened by the fact that there is a bit too much hype about the Evo.

It happens. Things will even out a bit more when Lancer sales pick up in a post Evolution boom (Yeah, it's kinda a big assumption, but I think a fair one). Once the Evolutions are broken in, dyno numbers settled upon and the novelty wears off a bit I think you'll see a much more balanced posting forum demographic and more US Lancer threads on the main page, similar to how you used to.

On thing you can do is edit the list of forums that your view on the main page, so if you really only want to read about US Lancer tech stuff, you can select only those forums and the main page won't be cluttered anymore. You can still use the View New Posts link to see all the new posts.

I think it would be helpful to put dyno-related threads and timeslip information in their own forums under the Lancer Evolution category. That makes the information easy to find and compare. That is how I've seen a couple other car forums organized (guess which car). Certain rules should be followed regarding the listing of all modifications and environmental conditions to make the information useful.
