Avatar size request

Is it possible to get a avatar that is bigger than 75x75 pixel? I dont know how much space it will take up if you allow a slightly bigger avatar. Right now if we personalize a avatar its so small and the quality is pretty bad...really cant see clearly. If you could get an avatar like the one in the link it would be awesome... not the big one below your post but the one under your screen name?

Nope, sorry.

Best we can do so that things are easiest for everyone. You want 80x80, the next guy wants 85x85, and eventually everyone has a huge avatar.

Says the person with a 100x100 avatar...

I agree with this request... it's very difficult to get a
nice picture at 75x75 size, especially of a whole car. Many computers, like mine at work, run at 1600x1200 screen rez and they're barely even visible. What's so wrong with upping the dimensions to 100x100 or 125x125 to they're actually noticeable? As long as the file size isn’t incremented, bandwidth should not be more of a concern, right?

This is my avatar on another forum I am at:

It's 120x120 and so much nicer and clearer than something that's 75x75.

This has been asked several times.

There are a variety of reasons, all of which have come up in the past. I would highyly dobut the stance of "no change" would happen now, especially since we are bigger than ever.

As for DJ's larger avatar... that is something that is almost a "prek" for staff, if you will. I think there is only 6 or so that acutally have bigger than normal, so its rare to say the least.

I just don't see what the big deal would be... maybe it's because I am not as familiar with how the software works. If the only reason that can be given is, 'we don't want to change now because it's always been 75x75', that's a poor mentality, no offence intended.

Again, if the file size is a problem, maybe files over a certain kilobyteage must be linked from a hosting site or something.

I agree, my avatar looks like crap now since 75x75 is so small.

It's more a "making the forum look nice." If you find one of Peejay's posts (Admin - LancerEvoMR), it kinda skews the whole forum. Different avatar sizes screw up the spacing.

Yes, mine is a touch bigger than normal. But it isn't ruining the continuity of the webpage, is it? I still fit in my "personal info" box.

I look at it this way - we're fortunate. NASIOC is so big, they have no avatars simply to save on load time/etc. At least we get avatars and signatures here.

I wouldn't necessarily put the whole idea off completely. We might increase the allowed limit in the future. But don't expect any substantial increases (i.e. 150x150).

Until then, closed.

EDIT: Thanks for resurrecting a 5 month old thread.
