Was this site bought by *** when I wasn't paying attention? Is there even a reason for his being banned or did he just not send payment for vendor status? I'd like (as would most here) to know why he was banned so as not to make the same mistake. I don't think he was typing in all caps or anything.

Hi,

He was banned for refusing to remove signature links to a unregistered vendor. He was aware of the rule and after a moderator removed the signature, he put it back in his sig. Your issue is not with the moderators but the member who would not respect our rules.

It is not fair to the paying vendors of this site to allow competitors free advertising. Thanks.

Lets face the truth - Dave has been warned many times to stop violating the rules of EvoM. He does not want to become a vendor, but just wants to sell his parts. You can't have the cake and eat it too. Everyone here has to follow the rules. Dave refuses. It's that simple.

Now now

Vision imports was the US distributor of RPW parts and a vendor on this board. Dave joined to give tech support to customers. I really don't see what is so wrong with that.

The problem is now vision seems to be almost defunct.

Are you guys saying that if another Us distributor joins the board that Dave is still going to have to pay vendor dues?

Of course my first post was a joke, but this one's actually serious.

When I was on staff Mark had an agreement that RPW could promote through VI or their registered forum vendors. I haven't seen the signature in question, but if it was contrary to this then so be it. Similarly if the new Administrator has changed the policy and informed David then so be it. It's just very discouraging that one of our most knowledgable and helpful members gets banned, especially when he's not the type to get into bickering matches or, at least as we see it, break the rules.

I understand the need for advertisers and registered vendors, but this sort of thing can also be very discouraging to some of your more loyal members.

Here is my question. If you cannot buy parts directly from RPW, and you have to go through a vendor like Vision Imports or what have you, how is that different from other members who promote their "shops" where they had work done?? I see tons of members who have RRM links in their sigs, as well as even RIPP and Titan Motorsports... does this constitute breaking of the rules as well? Can I put a link to Central Florida Turbo in my sig or is this grounds for dismissal?

Essentially, I am asking, if one doesnt sell something on here directly, does that bar you from promoting a certain shop or manufacturer?

The question is easy to answer. ( I think ) If you were a paying vendor would you have any objection to members linking to a company who sells competitive products? I know I would not support a site that collects money from me but allows members to shill for competitors. Dave has been warned on numerous occasions. This was not a one and your done deal.

The moderators have discussed it and the ban on Dave has been removed. However, he must follow the site rules. He will be sent a PM stating his return could be short lived if he cannot agree to the same conditions the other 35,000+ members abide by. Thanks.

Thanks for looking into it, Speed. You know I'm not trying to bust staff ***** or anything. I hope David will continue to share his knowledge with us, because I know the community appreciated the breadth and depth of information he provided us.

I didn't take that way and appreciated your overview. Thanks.

That's the problem.

He doesn't say a word about Vision. All he talks about is "we us RPW etc". He conducts himself as a Vendor, but he doesn't pay the vendor fees.

When I see posts from Rob at RRM and posts from Dave at RPW, they look exactly the same. But Rob has "Vendor" in his user title. Dave does not.

lookslikeanevo - (hypothetically) if you started posting about the parts you made and your company sold, what do you think would happen? We'd ask you to either become a vendor or stop selling parts. And if you ignored those PMs and kept selling your parts, we'd ban you. It's just about following the rules.
If you ran an unlicensed business and the cops shut it down, would the cops be jerks? I doubt it.

welll i dont agree, he does refer to ordering from vision all the time. when you ask him where to order, he'll tell you to go to vision imports. he refers to rpw as a company, but asks people to order through vision, ill look through his posts later today....

i can see the whole not being a vendor thing, even if he was, it wouldnt even be profitable for him, cus he wont get orders like RRM does.

you have to admit that he's in a different situation, and to the most part he does a lot more help to the stateside lancer guys, that hurting you Evom by posting because he's not a vendor
