Why are evolving status and join date so important? Everyone thinks that it's so important to have those two items (and post count when it used to show), but all I tend to think when I see people caring about their status is that they have f**ked up priorities...

because if i just opened a new account I wouldnt be able to post in the classified section and anything i say would be flamed because it would say I just joined and was a newbie when in reality I have been on here for a year

Not that I care to get into a big debate, but what kind of reason is that?

I know I'm a mod so I probably post more than regular users. But 50 on-topic posts should take two weeks at most. If you can't find a few questions you know the answer to, something's wrong.

As for people flaming your "newbie" status, well, how damn insecure are you that you'd let a couple InterWeb jerks bother you?

I honestly wish they'd just remove the Newbie/Evolving/Evolved status. Being Evolved doesn't prove you know anything. But being a Newbie is just another excuse for immature people to flame...

i completely agree all the status stuff is annoying as hell. But for the firt 6 months I was on here everytime I asked or answered a question even when i was right there was still a bunch of idiots saying dont listen to the newb.. so i dont really feel like going through it again esp. when the mods can easily just make the change for me.

I for one requested a deleting of my old account, and was pleasantly suprised when my new name had my original join date and my old posts carried over. I was not sure this was even possible, I was just looking to straighten things out. I am glad that things worked out as they did as it accurately reflects who I am on here and what I have contributed to the community. I also agree that the Newbie/Evolving/Evolved titles may not be a good indicator of maturity/knowledge.
