Posting evoscan logs is now forbidden?
In the ECUFlash forum there was a thread where a member posted his EVOscan logs because he was concerned about knock. In response a vendor demanded the log files be deleted because he tuned the car. Is this a policy supported by EVOM? It is currently not documented anywhere on the site that I could find. I'm aware that posting vendor -maps- is forbidden and rightfully so, the tuners need their work to be protected. But to ban posting logs is simply unreasonable. There are many circumstances where a problem could exist that logfiles can be used to troubleshoot without any threat of comprimising a specific tuner's methods.

I am currently unaware of logs being against the rules.
The vendor claims you can "reverse engineer" a map from the log, so he seems to think he's protecting his product.
I'm not sure if it's actually possible to reverse engineer maps from logs...

Here is my take and the vendors can feel free to comment on it.
The information in the flash file is proprietary to the tuner and deserves to be protected as intellectual property.
If someone buys a scan tool and can log what the car is doing, the output of the logs is the property of the vehicle owner. To reverse engineer a log to a map would require extensive knowledge of the maps in the first place. Just because a car has 10* of timing you have no idea what part of the map the ECU is currently running in. It would be foolish for anyone to try and make a map from a log just like it is foolish for someone to use another's map.
Censoring logs is like saying Mitsubishi can go after anyone who posts a log off of their ECUs because it contains information from their factory tune. Ironically Mitsubishi has a lot more right to make this request because their tune is actually protected by some copyright where as, to my knowledge, none of the vendors on this site have even bothered to protect their intellectual property.
If you don't want logs that show the same timing, too much or too little timing then don't use cookie cutter tuning. Otherwise defend your tuning methods.
