Hey, I really think we should have a video section! Great site and everything, but I think we could benefit from a video section.

 

bump, c'mon I think it's a great idea! Especially if you're bored haha, I wouldnt mind seeing some fast *** evo's in action all in one thread location.

 

I'd love to see a video section, unfortunately I dont' think EVOM wants people linking videos from other sites here and they don't have the bandwidth to host a bunch of videos.

Hmm, yah I can see your point, however if it's all about evo's and they know we look at evo videos on other sites anyways (youtube, video google, and so on), why not support it here on our own evo forum and make it more convenient for everyone? It'll bring about great discussions, and I think it would just be a overall great thing.

Why not support it? Because it would cost a LOT of money to host all that bandwith. We have enough problems just supporting all the posts on this site! Do you want EvoM to be that slow?

 

What about if you guys weren't hosting the content? I don't think people expect you to foot the bill for the bandwidth. I'm thinking something along the same lines as the video forums on SVTForums, SRTForums etc.. where it's just a specific forum only for videos no matter where the content is being provided from.

I would expect if you did allow people to link videos from other sites that your next concern would be content. I'm not sure of the VBB functionality as I've only worked with it a little bit but it may be possible to have any posts in that section have to be approved by a moderator prior to being visible to other members. I know that's a lot of overhead for another forum, but that would be a pretty high traffic forum.

If a forum wont fly, how about a stickied official video thread in Evo General?

 

Yah what he said, and also I guess if we just had links and no hosting going on, would that be a problem? I know Brian had a couple possible reasons why that wouldn't be ok, but I guess I want to hear the answer from the mod. Just trying to help out! It seems like there are barely any car forums without a video forum, and a community as big and wonderful as the evo community, it seems like a no brainer must-have. Amazing cars with potential for amazing footage! But yah, so hosting it isnt good, but what about what Brian said about the new site or whatever he said, or the sticky where we are only aloud to link videos? It would be really nice to have a new section though just for videos. I think general can be too general.
