Why doesn't my post count increase?

wI've been at 99 for ~10 posts now, and would probally be near 200 total posts but for some reason my post count doesn't go up with every post I make. I'm not a post ***** by any means but it is somewhat frustrating.

Edit: wow I hit 100 now for some reason...

Posting in the same thread DOES count if the thread is in a forum that counts. Not all forums' posts will add to your total on topic post count however. Off topic, regional and newbie forums do not add to your total. This method allows us to use post count to gauge the amount of on topic content in general/tech forums and the likes to get a better estimate of users' contribution levels.
