Thumbs up Technical Assistance / +1 Thumb Up Reputation System

Example:

Evo owner has a problem with his boost gauge, so he posts asking the community for any assistance.

Everyone posts on his thread just tells him to check his wiring but doesnt get specific.

One person comes in and posts up a great post that actually helps the owner solve his issue and is thanked.

That person helped the community by not only helping the person with the problem at this instant, but they also helped future owners who can search for the same problem see what was done to resolve the issue.

There should be a +1 button next to the persons name that anyone can give someone else a +1 reputation point for helping them.

They might have to be moderator approved - as I can see where this would be abused if in the wrong hands.

When someone posts something, you can see how reputable they are based on their number next to their name. This will show who really helps people on here and who might just be blowing smoke out their you know what...

We used to have a rep system. I can't remember why we deactivated it... Prehaps one of the admins can chime in.

It would be a great addition to the community board.

Did you notice this?

The first priority is moving the site to new servers. It's a bit early to commit to any changes at this time. Hopefully we'll be able to address these types of suggestions in the future. Thanks.

If tephra is consistently helpful and technically well-versed, why don't you nominate him as a guru? It's an honorary title, but I think it's a little more meaningful than a few +1s in my opinion.
