Login timeouts?

I've noticed that, when I'm browsing without logging in first, when I login to reply to a message, it doesn't always work.

By the time I finish writing the reply (checking references and sometimes spell checking), the login has timed out, and when I hit "post reply", it takes me to another login page.

That would be fine, except that after the repeated login, vBulletin gets lost and loses my reply.

Is the login period adjustable? It seems awfully short (a couple of minutes?).

Or is this some other issue? Since I switced to Galeon (which permits per-site cookie permissions), I've allowed cookies from evolutionm.net domain, but I'm still having this problem with reply logins going away after a couple of minutes.

This doesn't encourage putting much thought into messages.

I completely agree - the site seems to be almost impossible to use after a few minutes. I have perm cookies refused, and unless I'm using a brower elsewhere where they are allowed I keep timing out. It would really useful to have this fixed.

The other area it really causes problems is with PMs. If somone askes about stuff that requires alot of explaniation I can't even get a message to them without using cut and paste. (write the message - cut it - log back in .. again - then paste - the process is a pain)

It could be a session issue. Are you both using cookies permanently or just for a session (ie. Is remember my username and password set to yes?) I'm hoping to have things fixed through a forum upgrade. I'm just waiting for the latest version to come out from vBulletin. Then we'll have to upgrade on a test server and if all is well make the transistion.

I may also look into upgrading the forum software to the current vb version.
