Annoying FS Threads!

I just have to say that it is SUPER annoying when people who have items for sale put "SOLD" next to whatever they used to have for sale....

Who cares that it is "SOLD"?!?!?!?!!! Its just as pointless as people who list a million cars in their signature that say they are SOLD, who really cares????

If an item is sold then TAKE IT OUT OFF THE POST!!! Also take the picture down if there was one!!!

When I try to search for something that I need I find lots of links to threads that have what I want only to say WTF when I click on the link and it says "SOLD"!!!

If you don't do this and simply delete the item that you sold then it will help everybody in searching for parts that are STILL AVAILABLE and we wont be wasting our time reading threads that are worthless!!!

Mods, I don't know if I posted this in the right section but I think that this should make this a policy to go by that if an item is sold then take the description of the item and accompanying pictures off the thread... it only makes sense...

I am not one to rant but I am sick of wasting my time reading about items that aren't for sale...

I'm not sure if you've noticed, but it doesn't let you edit your thread title after posting. This is why people have to edit the original FS post containing the item.

Otherwise anyone with common sense would edit the thread title to indicate the item is sold.

EDIT: What I find more annoying is:

1. Unmotivated sellers who post a bunch of crap for sale and don't respond for a week at a time. If you're gonna post something on here at least have the desire to want to sell it.

2. People who post "Make offers." Price is now required but people still do this and it's absurd because I'll offer them 3 cents.

It does if you go advanced, I have done it with some things that I am currently selling.

Saying something is sold is retarded, if it is sold them remove it because it will come up in searches for anyone looking for something specific...

I agree with your other two points though, I say OBO after the price not make offers...

I think it's usefull to leave items that are sold in the add only if you keep the price there. It gives others a reference point on what an item is worth.

The most annoying thing to me is a "fealer" thread. Either list it or don't. I think people who list "fealers" just don't want to deal with the rejection they receive if no one wants to buy their stuff.

^ Agreed...not that I do it...but I might start...but then again it all depends on the condition of the item...but I can see what you mean...it's a good starting point...

The real problem is that a forum is not the right tool for selling anything!

I think it would be much nicer we could simply use a professional marketplace like eBay or Amazon or whatever. Then you could save a lot of time searching for parts, comparing prices and comparing sellers.

The hurdle for EvoM is that vendors PAY to participate on the forum, and if there were a standalone marketplace outside the forum, they would just use that. So whatever solution gets put in place, needs to accommodate a business model where businesses pay to represent themselves. That or the financial model of EvoM has to change... but I doubt whoever owns it is interested in that!

The marketplace system on dsmtuners was pretty decent. Something like that could work. But the way it is now doesn't bother me much.

Even in advanced you cannot properly edit the thread title, which is irritating

I do like the SOLD next to parts though, because as stated, it provides a baseline for what parts have sold for in he past. This helps future sellers as well as buyers

I actually wish they wouldnt take the pictures and prices down because when I go to sell something I try and search for the item and see what it sold for previously. Pot calling kettle black here because I usually remove the pics and say sold too though LOL.

+1 I hate when people remove the listing and sale price! How are we supposed to know what stuff is selling for down the road!?

what about letting everyone know how much the item was sold for???, we can compare prices that way.
