Here is a question for KK or Anybody that knows the answer.

How long can a thread be? The Miami Lancer thread is over 2,000 posts and I am just wondering if we will need to open a new thread soon? Will this thread self destruct or stop accepting new posts or what. Or are we good for 10,000? 20,000?

There's not limit, but technically a large thread with lots of posts that have the email option set could be taxing on the server. The one we're on is already getting to the limit. I'm looking into spliting the site into multiple servers to help speed things up.

Would it help you (Administrator and Server) if we started a new thread and locked the old one?

No, it should be ok. It's really more of a reading concern than a server performance concern. We'll be upgrading hardware to handle things as time moves on.
