Hard to sum up in a title but I was storming up an idea that may be able to make evom some play money. On various FS webpages (not forums...) there is an option to pay into keeping your ad "up top" or "priority" in my eyes like a sticky in forums. May be a cool idea if someone wants to sell something bad enough and doesn't mind paying X ammount of money to keep it in a top of page section it may benifit the site and the seller.

If this is a brutal idea you can clean up this thread, no hard feelings

Hi and thank you for the suggestion. I'm very cautious when considering 'pay to post' type schemes. The classifieds are very very busy and we could easily end up with pages of ads 'sort of stuck' at the top. Do you have a link to a community using this type of arrangement? Thanks.

As origionally stated, I haven't found this to be on any forums but have seen it on FS sites such as kijiji. I do understand you have a very busy FS section and this is why I brought this idea up to make some pocket change for the forum rather than selling licence plate frames and key chain laniards. Kijiji will carry an ad up top for 7.99 for a few weeks then gets deleated.. this is another idea if the mods are comfortable with sorting through stickies deleating threads that have been there for X ammount of time. Price and time will be discussed by staff but thought it may be a good little sales idea for the site and great avenue for those who want to push their sale fast...

I play a lot of paintball in my free time and one of the forums I frequent for it is called PBNation. They have the ability to have a "gold ups" which keeps your thread at the top of the section for a week. I think it's a great idea however, that forum has over a million active users. For a smaller forum such as this where the majority of people just surf without logging in wouldn't do too much. I mean if you want to pay to have your thread stickied then that's on you but I think at the present time, the daily bump keeps your post on the first page for the most part. On PBNation there are over 390 pages of for sale threads in one day to give you some perspective.
