A noob is a newbie...helmet-man! And those number do seem a little low, considering he has the UTEC, injectors, cams, i/c and gears. I only have the fuel pump, intake, tb exhaust, mbc, flash and tune and got 296. wierd
they are not low. considering he doesn't really have that much of an increase of air flow (no bigger turbo, and what is the boost set at?), the I/C isn't going to give any noticable performance gains. also, the bigger injectors are not going to do anything different unless you run more air (i.e. bigger turbo or more boost), the cams and gears will help flow, but looking at it, the best power increase is from the exhaust. now if he puts a bigger turbo on, he will be in much better shape then you, because he can support the increase in fuel demand better, has a higher flowing head with the cams, and a more efficient I/C. not to mention tuning ability.
hrmm that explains a bit more just seemed a lil weird to me as i have seen some numbers almost the exact same with less mods but ur right it does depend on what he was pushing boost wise etc...
I was actually beat to the punch on this, but you are correct. I am just getting things ready for a bigger turbo. The pump, injectors, and intercooler are just in preperation for the turbo. The piping is two fold in that it helps with throttle response, but moreover helps in consistent boost pressure.
I was a little concerned as John4321 has basically the same mods as me, but posted a 347 hp number. The difference between him and I are different brands of exhaust, and he has a 272 intake injector, and stock intercooler.
As for my numbers, I am quite happy with them. The open loop/closed loop transistion is not as noticable with Mark's tune. The afrs are on target, and I couldn't have asked for anything more. I believe my numbers would have been higher if I had done a few things:
1. Stuck to my guns on the 272 intake cam. I have a friend in our club that has the straight 272 setup and complains about his idle. One of the other members told me it sounds like half of a V-8 on crack.
2. Kept the stock intercooler for less of a pressure drop. The cooling effiency is just as good as an aftermarket one, but it looks so damn nice.
3. Did my dyno in the am when it was a wee bit frigid. I believe that is the biggest one that would have made my numbers look better.
All in all, I am pleased, and ready for the ######## turbo I am getting.
