Track time/driving schools in the Dallas area?

I'll try to keep this short and to the point... here we go. I'm looking to get some track time in the EVO on a road course in the dallas area. I don't want to spend a crazy amt of money, but am willing to pay for quality shools or track time. I've seen a little about Apex and Dynamic driving schools, but am not sure if they are worth the money or which is better than the other. I've looked at Motor Sport Ranch, but surely won't spend the money they are asking for a membership. I've checked the SCCA site and it is confusing as hell when looking for something beyond parking lot events with cones. Not to down that, it is fun as well. I want to get the EVO out on a track and possibly get some instruction as well. Texas Motor Speedway has a deal on one of the inside road courses... 4 30 minute sessions for $160.00. That seems a little spendy for that little amt of time. Any suggestions on this or recommendations would be appreciated.

apex driving academy is well worth the money. you're not going to find a better deal for the money honestly. the apex guys post up here when they are offering schools, so sign up for one, spend the 150 or so dollars for an entire day at the track, and go out and have fun!

That sounds alot more of what I'm looking for. I want more *** time with someone giving some pointers. After once or twice with instruction it would be time to do some track days without instruction.

Gents,

You are very lucky in North TX ha have plenty of schools to choose from. All are good and are a little different.

At Apex we run a one day school that has around the same track time as most of the two day schools. We have only three run groups (18 max student per group) and one is an instructor group. If you are new to the track you must do track drills and lead-follows (safety first) in the morning, you get 4-20 min sessions in the afternoon. You will have an instructor for half the track time in the afternoon on weekend track days.

After you graduate you get 8- 20 min sessions in one day. You can have instruction or not. This is for $195.

Our $150 price is for a weekday event. These must be prepaid by a group or club. I would be happy to work with EZ or anyone to set up a weekday event.

Apex is also working with EZ on becoming a sponsor of the NTEC site.

I tried to get out on track a the street so Willow in Cali an few months back (planned a Business trip around a date). It was $495 for 4-20 min sessions and that was in my rental. It was $1500 to rent a car. I did not go. Figured I am spoiled.

Apex had never had a fender to fender accident and will do everything we can to run a safe track event.

Bottom line is go to one of the schools that suits you needs!

Proper track time is expensive, period. But if you do get a cheaper "open track day", consider yourself warned that these can be very dangerous. A day of instruction and close supervision will not only help you develop, it will likely keep you from something really bad happening out there. It's usually hard to find anything of that caliber for $200...so I'd suggest giving Apex the first look.

Sounds good. I'm looking to get some seat time; not looking to set any land speed records. I've done some scca in the evo, but standing in the sun all day ******** cones to run a few 40 sec runs is not my idea of fun. Instruction would be great and the Apex school sounds like a good one. I'll be looking to schedule something soon. Thanks for the info.
