alamo shop in arlington

this one dude was just a plain a**hole. i walk up to his shop asking him if they sold these exhaust gaskets (which i had one in hand i was showing them), so the guy was like..."yeah we sell 'em". so i asked him how many he thinks i need if i'm installing a cat back...and he just kinda smirked and said "well what kind of exhaust? for what car?"....and that was my mistake coz i didn't tell him what kind of car it was. so i told him it was for an evo, and he asked what brand exhaust it was...i told him it was for a logic performance cat back...and the freakin' first thing out of his mouth before i even finished saying it was "never heard of it..."

so i was kinda pissed after that...he asked how many pieces there were in that cat back. i told them there were 3...and he said i probably needed 4, and that it was $8 a piece.

i've heard about so much negative stuff about those guys down there...being a**holes like that. they're probably like that coz they know they're the only, if not one of the few mitsubishi tuning shops around my area. i stopped by redline performance afterwards coz i went there a lot when i used to own my honda..and the guys there were a lot nicer than those alamo guys..only downside was the redline guys kinda specialized on hondas a lot more.

sorry about the whining...i just wanted to voice my opinion out.

Kingpin in Dallas...but I have not heard enough reviews yet from my members to know if I would recommend them. I believe John had a 50 trim installed there?

what are you looking to get done? just looking for parts? or looking to get work done?

if you need work done, give me a shout. i'm about a mile away in arlington and can do pretty much anything you want.

and yes, EZ, kingpins tune blew up johns engine. the meth wasn't set to inject all the way up to 30 psi and was turning off at about 25 psi. well you can imagine what happens when you are at 30 psi on a 50 trim with nothing but pump. i did a compression check on it and they were really low for a new car. he then took it to jotech who confirmed the rings were all destroyed i think it was.

Yes that's pretty close to what happened. When Kevin did some data logging on my car we were seeing petty bad knock at 5k+ . Also Jotech figured out what was causing all the smoke, one of my oil lines to the turbo was kinked pretty bad and I guess it was leaking into my downpipe. Jotech called me recently to tell me they think the motor is fine, but at this stage I just want to make sure the car is perfect so I changed things up a bit.

I'll start a thread later today with some pics and a review of my experience with Jotech. So far though I've been nothing but impressed.

hey cool! thanks man! i'm assuming that was for me right? i'm just looking on getting a turbo back installed on my evo but i'm missing i think 2 or 3 exhaust gaskets...i have the down pipe with no O ring or gasket..and the cat back with only 1 gasket (3 pieces on the catback). not sure if i can use the existing O ring on the stock down pipe and if i could use the existing gaskets on the cat and the stock cat itself. i wasn't planning on replacing the stock cat until later. will that work? i've been looking around for gaskets and can't seem to find any..not even muffler shops. one muffler shop said they've had a lot of people come in looking for the same gasket and they themselves are having a hard time finding one. they said i can use high temp silicone sealant if i can't find that gasket...is that a good idea or should i just wait till i find me some gaskets? then again, the dicks at alamo did say they have the gaskets.
