TX SCCA Autox, June 10th

Well it's time for the next SCCA autox event. This time it's in Mineral Wells, which is about 30 minutes due west of Ft. Worth. (map below)

You can either pre-register on-line or do a walk-up registration the morning of the event.

To pre-register go here: http://autocross.com/texasregion/ - look at the top right-hand side of the page and click on "Registration Open". That will send you to the DLB Racing webpage. You will then need to create an account and then it will take you to the Texas Region Event #4 June 10th event. If not, just go to the June calender and under Sunday June 10th click on the notepad icon next to the Tex(AX) event. You can then pay through Pay-Pal or a credit card.

If you want to just walk up the morning of the event, here is the daily schedule:

(All times are Approximate)
Registration & Tech 7:30AM-8:30AM
Novice Walk-Thru 8:40AM
MANDATORY Drivers Meeting 9:00AM
First Heat Cars to Grid 9:15AM
First Runs Start 9:30AM
Trophies at conclusion of runs 4:30 PM

I'd really recommend to everyone (pre-registered or not) that you arrive no later than 7:30-7:45. That way you can have plenty of time to get signed-in, your car ready and teched, as well as time to walk the course multiple times.

Please let me know if you have any questions and I will try and help you out.

I am not a fan of pre-paying, but I am registered to go with 2 friends. One of my buddies blew his motor this week and it may not be ready. Is it gonna be a problem if we change the registration to have him be a driver in my car?

I'm registered, prepaid, and will see you there. Looks like we'll have nice weather for racing. I'm actually looking forward to running at Mineral Wells. It's been awhile. I'm doing some suspension work/alignment later this afternoon to get everything ready.

Will be glad to have you out there. As far a changing the registration, that will not be a problem. The SCCA is quite flexible and can easily do it on-site that morning.

I'll be there. Will there be air available? Is there a gas station close to air up tires? I am coming from out of town.

Wario, I have a compressor with me so we don't have to scramble around for air like every other time.

Well it was a typical Miserable Wells day on Sunday (hot/humid). We also had some timer problems (timing equipment would not communicate with the scoring computer so all times were hand written) so it made for a still fun, yet long day. The course was stupid wide-open and I either had to go to 3rd/2nd/3rd/2nd or bump the 2nd gear rev limited no less than 4 times per run. Of course that made it difficult to get the most out of the car (2nd + rev limter was faster) and in my case let the win go to a couple STi guys who left it in third the whole back side. Oh well, I'll get them next time.

We also had a great Evo turn-out with G8R & Wario (nice to meet you guys) plus the "regulars" Jim, Ken, Mark, and myself. I hope everyone else had a good time and hopefully we will see you at the next SCCA event, which will be held on the actual ROADCOURSE at TMS on July 15th. Registation just opened today and it will fill up quickly: http://autocross.com/texasregion/

We did the event in the rain last year and it still was a blast! A few pics here http://vorshlag.smugmug.com/gallery/2009889

Wario and myself had a great time. We'll be at more events in the future. Hopefully we can get the friggin upper IC pipe to not pop off during the runs.

I will see about attending the next event. I may be driving the STI this time.

What's an IC pipe problem? I wish I had more time to talk with you'all at the event, but that darn temporary pipe just didn't fit. I got to put my lower pipe back on four times on Sunday. The last time was on the side of the road at the intersection of 121/I-820 on the way home. I ordered a replacement AMS pipe yesterday.

I had a great time. The ride in your car was insane. You should make a T-shirt. I survived the ride-a-long. I can't imagine what a full run feels like.
