$500 to ship a fender or bumper????

so i found all the parts i needed to get my car back together, i spoke with a guy from cali with the bumper and he said that fedex and ups wanted about $400 to ship the bumper to texas. i also found a fender and he said that it was gunna cost $500 to ship that.... whats the deal with these prices? does that sound about right? i know that it only cost about 20 dollars to ship 2 headlights in one big box the size of the light fender....

Wow, that's a rip off! I have a friend locally who ships complete body kits for $300.

Definitely find a different source for your parts.

Definitely sounds like too much. Ground quote from Fedex to ship off a Mustang bumper from here to San Francisco was $125.

Check Greyhound. They ship and give tracking numbers. I'm getting 06' leather seats and my friend is shipping them greyhound. Its only 50 bucks to ship the fronts, backs and all the door panels.

The guy isn't trying to rip you off... Fedex, UPS, all the sort have a "maximum" size/volume they will ship.. prices go up dramatically.

Unless you have a special account they will stick with this maximum volume, and ding you badly. Good luck.

I remember when I ordered my body kit for the Eclipse, it only cost me like $125. I think it was from Extreme Dimensions out in Cali all the way to Toledo, OH.

I'm sure they went off of dimensions vs. weight, sometimes depending on the person doing the quote they'll try to add some markup to it..Although even with markup that is still a very high price.
