Mitsubishi is weak...

--Rant ON--

Earlier this week, I took my Evo8 to Mitsubishi (Don Herring) to see about getting my brake calipers replaced since I started to get the "peeling paint syndrome" on them. IMO, this should have been a TSB. Period.

In any case, I just received word that Mitsu will NOT cover the brake calipers.

Here's the kicker - they WILL cover my spoiler fading.. To me, I'd much rather have the brakes replaced and get the spoiler painted myself.

I will not buy another Mitsu car. Period.

--Rant OFF--

The brakes are covered by Brembo. I am actually surprised that they are going to pay for your spolier. So it is not 100% the fault of Mitsubishi or the dealer. I am actually pretty surprised that a company like Brembo doesn't back their products up. I guess it just really comes down to money and advertising.

I wonder if the paint peels on the brembos on the 350z's and wrx's.

I don't think it does... All the 350Z and Sti's I've seen have all been cool. The caliper paint is different, it doesn't seen to have the clearcoat that they use on the Mitsu's. It's more of a flat finish, it's not as glossy.

why did it peel? did you bleed it and the fluid stained the calipers? I know the "don" of don herring is a poster here. any comments from the "don?" try another dealership!

The clear coat is peeling off one of my brembos as well. But believe me, there's worse things than that. At least we HAVE Brembos.

Once the peeling gets annoying enough for me to bother I'll just take them off, wire brush them clean, then spray with some red (or other choice of color) hi-temp paint. Maybe while I'm at it I'll put my own custom logo on them.

It'll be a fun little project, and the calipers will be personalized to boot!

The brakes are Brembo, but the paint on them probably were from Mitsu.

Back in 04' everyone was complaining of the paint peeling and Mitsu should've put out a TSB on it. The same for the spoiler. A lot of the parts on the EVO are just cheaply made. Period.

Plano Don Herring Service (Gene) Manager. I got 49k on an 03' - which is pretty respectable IMO. They said they had to submit a request to the main branch in CA. They are the ones that turned down the warranty.

On top of that they are charging me $180.00 (2 hours labor) on installing the spoiler when they said it would only take about 1 hour (probably less). I asked if they could just charge me the hour. "nope.. we charge by the book even if it takes less time.."

That sux bro. At bleast you tried right? You may want to go to Hurst? They charge by the book because that is how the technicians, service advisor, service manager make money. A lot of times those guys are on straight commision. I don't get why they don't replace the spoiler under warranty?

Are there anymore good reviews about this dealership? Aren't they under the same warranty rep?

How do you contact brembo about this? My dealer said they're not covered under warranty...
