NTEC Sonic Drive-In Meet Anyone?

I noticed at the last SpeedZone meet, not many of us went in due to "funds". SpeedZone's a great place for every now and then, but I don't think every month. I know a lot of car clubs have meets at Sonic Drive-In on specific nights of every week. Think we can come to an agreement on a location and get a meet going? This would be great I think because the food and drinks are good and not to pricey. Plus, we can have a decent cruise after words. I know hot nights for car clubs are Thurs. and Wed.... I can even look into setting this up with a specific Sonic Drive-In if theres enough interest...

Just let me know a date and time ... and location. It'd be nice to keep it East of Fort Worth, and outside of Hurst ... beyond that, consider me in.

We used to meet at the Sonic off of Round Grove road and 121...it's semi middle ground for the metroplex. Might want to check with that particular one though before we arrange a meet there. It used to be okay with them...but there was a big fight up there one night and the cops cracked down on that spot hardcore (been a couple of years since this).

If we are being cool though and meet in the parking lot next to that Sonic I don't think they will hassle us. We could then just walk over and get some food. Another good one and better still one thats open 24/7 is the Sonic off MacArthur and 635. I'd be down though regardless of where it is as long as it's not out in Plano or Frisco or something uber far from me. ~Trent

Trent,
Is this the Sonic located across the street from Vista Ridge Mall you speak of? I know there on Wednesday nights, a bunch of HS kids are up there with there cars act like idiots. You have some older guys there with like older Camaros and a Viper, but mostly kids...

Kevin,
Did you ever find anyone to help you out with the site? You never got back to me through email...

KevinD: Naw just work in that area. I used to hit all those meets a few years ago though, I live in Colleyville actually. I might swing by sometime sooner than you think

Drumnbassbboy: It's close to there, yes. It used to be a more legit meet a few years back, only high end cars with little to no rice or stupid people causing problems. Vipers/Panoz/Evo/STi/Cobras/as well as some older classics and the occasional low riders but everyone was cool usually. Then one night a couple stupid kids showed up drunk, started talking trash with some guy, threw a bottle at him...missed...and hit a really big hispanic guys truck with it instead...that was a bad choice. That guy came running after them because it broke out his tail light, a chase ensued, the big man jumped up on their hood and ran over the roof of their car chasing them (they had a friend in the car ready for them to bail but the big man was to close behind them) then ran across the street and hid out like a bunch of sissies in mattress giant holding the door shut. Cops showed up about 20 minutes later...stupid kids showed back up with a pool cue/tire iron...cops saw them, 1 resisted...and met the pavement closer then he would have liked I'm sure...they found a cozy cell at the end of it all for the night If they are meeting up there on Wednesday nights though and we wanted a more controlled meet we could always do it Tues or Thurs nights instead to avoid the idiots.

I didn't know if people met at that Sonic anymore though, that meet after the fight moved across the highway in front of starbucks and all that developement on the left hand side by Target.

Red Evo8: I'm sure if I go out there and we have a decent turn out there will be people there alot later than 8:30 if you wanted to swing by. Most of the time I hang at the meets till 10ish or so if they are good.

Trent,
Yeah, if we pick that location, we can always pick another night. The reason I like that one is because it has that really large parking lot. I am just trying to take into consideration a middle area between Fort Worth and Frisco. That and we can set it for a date in like June so we can get a large turn out. I know, theres a lot of space between FW and Frisco, but I would like everyone to consider at least coming out.

Would a weekend meet on Saturday or Sunday be better for people?

Well, the NTEC monthly meet is usually in Irving. It usually get a pretty good turnout. I think if we plan this one in advance, we can get a pretty good turnout. Only people that wouldn't consider Irving are the Frisco and Allen peeps. Though, if it is in advance far enough, they may consider the drive. We just have to consider the FW people, because there drive is serious. I would say Irving, but not sure how people would like that. That and we have to find a Sonic with a decent parking lot to it. I'm thinking maybe a Sonic in Irving? Or the Sonic in Lewisville with the big parking lot? Lewisville got FW and South folks is far as hell though...

That one in Lewisville does have a really great parking lot, easily enough room for 100+ cars. It's a little ways from Ft Worth for sure but it's really not that bad unless you live in west Ft Worth or Benbrook area. I bet you can make it to the Lewisville Sonic from downtown Ft Worth in less than 30-40 minutes without traffic. I'd put in a vote for that Sonic over any others based on parking lot size.

Saturday night wouldn't be too bad...but if I'm going out...the meet will be 2nd choice thats the biggest advantage weekday meets have IMO. Also I'm out of town alot on the weekends. Just let me know when/where we decide to do it and I'll be there if I'm around ~Trent

Also off topic but test pipe showed up today woot!

Your right Trent, would probably have a better turnout during the week. Tonight, I'm going to check in with the Sonic in Lewisville and see what nights they have car meets there. Hopefully none on Thursday. Lewisville will be best bet because of the parking lot. If I set this up like a month in advance, people will probably be more willing to drive a bit to attend.
