That's a funny expression...

And I would be hacked off considering how much I paid for my 245/40 17s. On the other hand, I would be happy about the next set that I purchased at that price.

ok i looked up some common sizes and prices for both stars and dz101s

prices are give or take a few dollars and prices are PER tire and installed

245 40 18 -170
245 40 17 -150
245 45 17 -120
245 45 18 -170
255 40 17 -136

DZ101s (super cheap!)
245 45 17 -90
245 45 18 -130
245 40 17 -98
245 40 18 -115
255 40 17 -95

will not ship.

also, the star specs are only stocked in a warehouse in michigan. atleast thats where we get them, no goodyear in texas has stars in stock

prices are just barley above what the store gets them for.. (store makes very little money off of the tires you would buy from me) and i will install them. untill then i can refer some of you spec alignment guys to a guy named brandon bud, he works at NTB
Location -- SW corner of 121 and Grapevine Mills Pkwy -- NTB (National Tire & Battery)
he can do almost any ride height with some lift hes got, hes verrry good at making extreamly aggressive alignments!

do 255 40 17s fit on a SE wheel? because those are cheaper than the 245 40 17s.

if no one knows we have some dz101s in 255 40 17 and ill test fit them on one of my evo8 wheels

what's the stock SE wheel size?

The issue is going to be that going from 245/40 to 255/40 your car's speedo will be off and your car will be slower (since you are effectively reducing your final gearing).

SE is the same as ixs the panel says 235 45 17.. but the stock advans i pulled off where 245s, the speedo wouldnt be off if the tire was wider, but it would if it was smaller.. anyways i plan on getting some 18" +28 enkei NTOM+3s from work soon

Dude... you change the tire size (width) and don't mess with the aspect ratio and you change the speedo.

A 245/40/17 vs. a 255/40/17 has a smaller overall diameter and will make the car feel faster (buzzier).

well going from a 235/45/17 to a 255/40/17 changes it by 1.2... you wouldnt even notice that.. says at 100 mph you would actually be going 98.8... which to the naked eye, on a speedometer looks 100. not to mention at 50 youd be doing like 49.9

which dosnt make sence to me, be cause the first part of the number is the width of the tire, which should make any difference, the second is the height of the tire, and the third is the size of the wheel...

im not really sure i believe that, ive worked for tire companys forever, putting alot of crazy sizes on different cars, and this problem has never shown up..
