I have the AEM. I liked the look and I didn't want to have to worry about the AC idle issues that the open air cone filters have if you don't get the shield.

Basically, if you don't get the shield for the filter, when the AC kicks on it pulls the air from the intake and stalls the car (nice!).

Just keep that in mind.

You might look at the Ultimate Racing intake too.

simple solution sean, remove the ac, but make sure and wait till its 106' in july, ok?

(i say this jokingly only because i considered removing the ac until kevin talked me out of it....but this wasn't idle related, only weight related. a random thought while going through the modding thinking process i do when i obsess over my car and its performance daily)

I ran the Buschur cone filter on my stock intake pipe without the shield for a year without any issues. Fans kicking on in stop and go traffic, idle, whatever..the car never acted funny. Drove awesome.

Yup you're absolutely right. I didn't catch OP having a X My vote still goes for the Buschur intake with the Indy Evo CF shield

Thanks for all your input guys, I really appreciate it, the final outcome is:

I went with the Buschur Intake along with the Carbon Fiber Heat Shield

Buschur has a great reputation among EVO owners and everyone speaks so highly of them, plus he gave me free shipping on the whole package. Hopefully I get the intake by Friday, (when I'm back in Dallas) so I can install it this weekend. Yes I will take pics.

Speaking of pics, man I got to start taking a lot of pictures this weekend, from the car getting lowered, to tint, to clear bra, to boost gauage coming in this friday as well. Gonna be a busy weekend! Keep your eyes out for pics!
