Great weather... great competition and an all around great time!

Weatherford likes their town center so much you drive slow and hit 10 traffic lights, so I thought I'd snap a picture:

And here's the first (of a few) videos (mixed with some GPS data):

you have a maxqdata system in your car (pda + software + gps receiver). You also record video (like you do already).
You export the gps data. Then you use the software I wrote to put the GPS data onto the video (you have to sync the two datastreams first). It was a fun exercise in learning how to manipulate the video streams, but its definitely not something that most people would be able to use.

Don't be so modest goofygrin, here's what it looks like running it 3 seconds faster than what I did.

On the far back stretch, I only got up to 71.4 MPH while goofygrin got up to 75. That was kind of a theme for my runs that weekend. If you compare my speed in most of the turns you'll see I'm going about 4 to 6 MPH slower in almost every turn. I just wasn't pushing it hard enough.
There's good reason for this though - in my first run I really went for it and, on the back high speed section, I spun completely backwards doing about 60 MPH. That was enough for me to not over do it the rest of the weekend.
Yeah in one corner (at 1:08 in my video) I went in too fast and too far to the outside - that was a big time killer too.
I'm no pro but I'm having a great time. Only been really doing this since I bought the Evo in March so I'm still learning. But I know we both learned a LOT this weekend as we both did much better on day two.

By the way, goofygrin, I ended up with a season total of 50 points which is good for first place! Wayne Atkins in the Civic Si got second place with 48 points. Very close.
If he had attended one more event during the season at any time, he would have beaten me and would have gotten the end of year trophy.

Well, I cracked it loose when I caught a curb while pulling into a parking space. No biggie right - I glued it back together with gorilla glue (that stuff is amazing) and it was all good.
Then I went autocrossing and it held up just fine until I hit my first cone at like 50 MPH and whack! The glue broke loose and the lip was hanging free on one side but the lip was still stuck on half way. I finished all my runs and everything was fine.
Then on the drive home, I guess I was doing about 70 or so, the lip finally let go from the bumper - but because it was still attached to the under tray it dropped to the concrete and was scraping along the highway with a loud crrrrrunch sound.
When I pulled off to the side of the road to disconnect it from the undertray, the damage had already been done. The road had eaten a hole right through it.

J/K...I'm really impressed with how much you improved between saturday and sunday. Wathcing your vid from sunday was like night and day. Maybe I should start charging for lessons?
Using what I consider a relatively consistent driver for reference -- on Saturday, goofygrin's raw time was 3.834 seconds slower than the STU Civic Si. On Sunday only 1.95 seconds slower. A definite mark of improvement.
My times, on the other hand, despite the fact that I was much smoother on sunday, were actually slower. In an effort to keep from over driving it, I think I just toned it down too much - that and made a few little errors. Ah well at least I'm somewhere right in the "middle" of the pack. Maybe there's hope for me yet.
