Rats chewing up wires in my engine

So on Monday some rats (or something) got in my engine and chewed up some wires, it ran me about 350 in repairs and my car was gone for like 2 days. And now, just one day after I got my car back the check engine light came on, and I think they got in there again. I've yet to take it to the shop to get it checked but I'm almost positive thats what happened.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to keep rodents from chewing up wires in my engine cause its super inconvenient.

traps? an exterminator? kill the rats near your house.

i have a horror story about this and its really long but long story short mice were living in my old eclipse during winter and i didnt know it. they died in the car and i didnt know. 6 months later in june i was cleaning my interior and i found 100909209120 magots yes magots!! baby flies. those things under neath my floor mat.

Solve this problem now!!! dont let it get worse!

True. Rotting flesh is the worst smelling thing I have ever come across, especially if it is human.

yeah i opened up the hood and sprinkled them all around in the corners, you know so they dont get in some important part of the actual engine and mess things up even more than the rats do. :/
