Ft Hood Evo Check-in
Nice stuff... Man its james. I finally got the head off and did some poking around took the injectors out. Low an behold #2 inj was melted and I'm gonna say it clogged and detonated. Process of getting it back together.
Wow so an injector was the culprit. That sucks. They weren't stock were they?
Thanks. Sent you a text, but its open for any takers -
I replaced everything from the Head to the testpipe, including every gasket possible. All the factory manifold / O2 housing heat shields were removed, yet I still have the hunting idle and an intense rattling sound when I run the engine up to 4K (it gets asinine after that).
Cash prize and rum to who ever can figure it out.

Idle could be IAC on back of throttle body. EVO 8 had 2 different models. Some people get good results by cleaning(I did) or just replaceing it. The newer one has a spring.
Might help
Might help

It's very steady up past 4K RPM, and and I haven't found a reason for it to be happening.
Things I'm going to attempt to check today -
1) Drive shaft
2) Drive shaft Heat shield
3) Balance shaft alignment (How can this become unaligned?!)
4) IAC - This is very low on the priority as the idle hunting is only 100 rpm max.
And done

I just found out today that I have been accepted for a new job back home in the Great State working on Fort Hood. Looking forward to reestablishing my network there.
