E85 for my Evo 8.5?

What I'm really asking is...how far is too far away for E85? I have a station 10 or 11 miles away. Thinking about switching and just keeping a couple big race gas cans. It's a stock IX motor with a full Boost Logic turbo kit, precision 58 trim, S1 cams, and supporting mods. 20psi on 93 octane is pretty quick, but obviously I want more. I have 1000cc injectors in the garage, single walbro 255 installed, would that be enough??

I'm thinking about 26-30psi, E85, J-tune from Jorge @ JMS Racing, should net me about 460-500ish to the wheels or so, right?

Everyone that runs E85 is hounding me to run it and says they'll never go back.

Should I use map switching for 93 just in case?

What do you guys think?

single walbro wont be enough for 450+whp on e85. you'll need a double pumper. the 1000's will also max out once you have the double pumper in so for 500whp youll want something bigger, 1200-1400. last red i did on e85 was twin pumps, 1250cc, with the turbo trashed, it hit 28psi immediately falling to 23psi which was the most it could hold. it was at 75% duty cycle with 12.5 AFR at 23psi. you can imagine if you can hold boost on your turbo, say 28-29psi by 7000-8000rpm, youll easily be 90+% duty on 1250cc.

i did do a ETS 58trim on a stock 9 motor with 1000cc and a single walbro on E85 which would be pretty comparable to your setup. at spiking 31psi tapering to 28psi by 6800 we were hitting 100% duty cycle at 12.5-13 AFR. so it was running really lean (but the e85 loves it), it was fast, but the injectors/pump were maxed out. i wouldn't recommend running it like that.

Thanks for the info Kevin- That helps a lot. I thought I'd be pushing the limit for one pump. 1000's are now for sale haha. Looks like I'll be trying to get some 1400s or something.

Yea I've talked to Jorge about it a little. He's already tuned the car on 93 so he knows about it.

Where is this e85 station of which you speak? Wouldnt mind a gallon of e85 per tank for some knock protection during the summer.

I couldnt find a webpage for JMS. Do they have a dyno, and are they a Cobb pro-tuner? Would'nt mind an alternate e85 tune on my AP.

e85 is great... i myself am running 30psi on my fp red with 1,000cc and a single pump, with hks 272's and stock bottom end. and it runs amazing!

I live about 3 miles from the place i get e85 from. If i where you i would seriously consider map switching being that you live so far from a station.

JMS Racing uses ecuflash for the most part and they don't have a dyno....yet! Give Nissan2Evo a pm. He is the tuner/part owner for JMS.

There's that HEB in Buda, that's 10 or 11 miles from me. Or the HEB @ Parmer/I-35, that's a little farther. I don't drive the car THAT often, so I think I'll be able to manage with a few gas cans.

I don't think JMS has a webpage, they are moving into their shop pretty soon though. You can PM Nissan2Evo on here, or hit me up and I'll get you his number.

Thanks for that info- I really want to FP Red my daily evo...bad. Maybe I'll consider the switch if it's not too much trouble.

I made 452 on my 2.3l 37r with e85 and 1000's with my IDC's at 89%. This was on a mustang dyno. So on a dyno jet, he could hit 450's with a single pump and 1000's

E85 more gas

Dude yeah so going to need more fuel which means two pumps and bigger injectors I have eight injectors on mine but they have a new injector out called ID2000 makes car idle like stock. E85 yes its freakin great I use it and have 3 cans in my garage it sucks but worth it if your racing.

If you are only at 20psi, why don't you just get it re-tuned at a higher boost level on 93? There is also water/meth injection. I don't think 10 miles is that far honestly, if I had it that close I'd be on it.

Jake, with that SC61 I got from you, spiking 33psi, tapering to 28ish by 8000rpm. Im running a 255 in tank and a 255 inline after the in tank on 1600cc. 63% duty cycle lol. I would just throw another 255 inline, since its super cheap and easy to do and see what you can get out of it on the 1000s.

With my PTE 1000cc's I was at 23psi on just the 255 in tank around 83% iirc. I wish I would have done the inline before putting in the 1600cc's.

Talk to george bro, btw Jms is moving to a new location in march, its 5000sqft and brand new. There will be a dynojet 424x awd dyno, there will be a reception lounge for customers with a flat screen tv. And Jms will now be a cobb dealer and tuner.
