It's good. There's at least some talk of doing some shows and trying to get more into the Evo side of things. It would be cool if we were at the same place but maybe that's in the cards for somewhere down the line. Take it easy.

Lets say you put a piggyback computer and your transmission blows up "of course it wasnt your computer that did that and would be warrentied" If your aftermarket part causes the problem then of course its not under warranty. Now if they take apart your transmission and all of first gear is striped "common sense that the owner abused his tranny" If they can trace that the aftermarket part you installed broke that part then its not underwarrenty. The car show is next sat at 6 I will start another thread on the car show............... Plus the free food its going to be a awsome time
OK, I'm not trying to sound like a dick here, honestly. But, if you don't warranty the parts you install then why should we buy from you? The chances are that we would be able to get the parts cheaper from vendors registered here and probably get them installed at a local shop cheaper too. I kind of understand where you're coming from but you have to look at it from my perspective: If I pay you for a boost controller and pay you, a dealership, to install it and it pops a piston or something then I'm left with the repair bill? If that's the case, I'll just buy it from one of the vendors here and install it in my garage. If you're going to sell and install performance parts, being a dealership as well, then you have to offer something extra otherwise people won't be interested. Hell, the warranty doesn't have to be free replacement & labour, but some sort of price cut on replacement of parts damaged by items your dealership sold and installed should at least be offered as far as I'm concerned (like parts at cost and a reduction in labour charge).

I might come check out your place next weekend if I can clear my calendar .

You bring up a good point .................. Lets say you buy a peformance part from the internet or a vender .........its going to cost you money to ship the part .........it would be easier to just pick up the part from the dealership and cost less..... Here is a story about my friend Jason........... He owns a 2002 wrx ........ Gets the aftermarket clutch installed at a peformance shop in houston......because the dealership wouldnt install the clutch........ After a week of driving his car around the clutch wasnt installed correctly and tore up his transmission including breaking the case...... The total cost to fix it was bout 4k .......if a dealer installed the part and it broke "they would be obligated to fix it" Oh yea its not wise to put a racing clutch in a AWD car .......Even in the rally cars we only use the stock clutch because it puts too much strain on the tranmission ....... but if you guys are into shutters all the time the racing clutch is the way to go..... and yes WHEN YOU INSTALL AFTERMARKET PARTS YOU GET A 15% OFF "ALL" mitshu parts. My grasshopper salesman are learning about the evo from me They should be able to name every single part on the car when I am done with them

PS name a dealership that sells aftermarket parts and installs them

I tried, but most of the times, you guys weren't at your cars. Since it was my first time autox'ing my evo, I was pretty busy getting the routine down, teching, airing up tires, stripping the car, putting numbers on, etc. During the races, I mainly talked to the instructor and had him ride with me.

Aw...I did pretty well I guess for my first time. I ran 63, 60, then 58 on my last run (note huge improvements with each lap ). I didn't even launch the car at the beginning. Charles ran 61 in his SI, on his fastest lap. That track was pretty slippery. I tried pulling the same moves on the streets and my car just stuck and didn't slide, haha. My stock Yoko's tore up in the front, cuz I have no camber. You can see chunks of rubber torn off the sidewalls, haha. I'm probably gonna have to get some Falkans and light wheels, if I wanna make autocrossing a regular thing. Man, it's addicting!

Kam, what do you guys use for tires/wheels/alignment/air pressure? How did you guys do?

Best thing with autox is be patient and learn clean lines "not like I was doing last autox with the rally car I was lucky to get first in my class ............... Go to Kartzone and practice there It will teach you clean lines .....and they are alot of fun! Performance Mitshu is going to sell Falkens and Light weight rims........... SSR's and TeamDynamics both proven racing rims Remember alot of wheels cant fit over the Brembos ..............

Dont drive like this

oh yea if you guys want to look at a cool video " evo was built for this sport "

Video clip

Oh yea Rally Mexico will be a WRC event! I am going if I am not stuck in Wales ...............So if your interested in going ... PM me

We are all in Street Mod class. I got 54.632 for 4th, wizardofoz 54.587 for 3rd, and tearitupsports 55.495 for 5nd. My best time would have been 53.793, but I hit a cone on that run. I think we did good considering the first place guy is a national level driver and second place was a Z06 which is not supposed to be in Street Mod.

I use 255/40/17 Yokohama A032R tires (a competition tire) and 40psi all around on the stock rims. I’ve been trying to dial out a bunch of oversteer I’m getting in the car, but I wouldn’t pay attention to my tire pressures because my suspension is not stock. For alignment I’m using 0 toe front and back, 2 degrees camber in front, and 1 degree camber in the rear. My alignment was more aggressive at one point, but my street tires started wearing too fast. The others have not changed there alignment from when they bought it.

Wizardofoz has 245/45/17 Kumho competition tires which I think is a little better for autox than my Yokohamas (a better track tire I hear).

Tearitsports rims and tires are all stock. Last I checked his tire pressures were 39psi in front and 33psi the rear, which causes a load of oversteer which he seems to like. He may have changed from that pressure.

Thoe99 are you planning to stay in the stock class?

Excellent info. Did you guys run in the morning or afternoon? I ran in the morning. I don't remember seeing 5 other evo's (on the score list), but I could be wrong. Yes, I wanna stay stock. I don't wanna move on to mods til I can't improve with stock anymore--plus, the money issue . How long have you guys been autox'ing?

We all were in the morning session in the same heat as you. Two evos were in A Stock - one red one must have been you & and the other red one without a spoiler had a double driver (1 car - 2 competitors). The three evos I mentioned were in Street Modified (1 Black & 2 White).

I’ve been autoxing for about 9 months, wizardofoz 1 year, and tearitupsports a least a few years. Something funny about those two is their cars still qualify for the stock class, but they race in street modified. They are planning mods as far as I know but don’t want to have to change class in the middle of the year and lose a chance of winning the class.

FYI, in the stock class you are allowed to install a cat-back exhaust that must have a muffler and be “quiet” (what ever that means). You can put on any DOT legal tire on a stock sized rim - although no fender rolling. You a can change the offset from the stock rim by +/- .25 inches from stock size.

The stock tires are great, but it is amazing how much better a competition/race tire that is barely DOT legal is (a 2 to 6 second time shaving depending on the tire and driver). A lot of the guys you are running against in A Stock, including that other evo, are on competition/race tires. You may want to consider a Street Tire class if you are not going to buy a separate set of rims and tires for racing. In the Street Tire class they restrict tires to true street tires. Those competition/race tires a lot of people use are really a racing slick modified just enough to pass DOT standards and be used in competitions that require a so called “DOT” tire.

Hehe...yea, I definitely need new wheels/tires to keep this up. I'll do one or two more events before having to wait for new tires. I wanna keep the Yokos for daily driving. Next month, I'll probably show up, if not, I'll be at the Texas A&M autocross event with some other friends. I'm taking mine to Baytown to get a timeslip down the 1/4, Friday the 13th (it'll probably be the only time I ever go there). You guys should come. Do they make falkans for the evo?

We've all been talking about going to A&M to get some good practice time. I'm thinking about going to a San Antonio event soon. Someone told me they get 8 runs minimum, but on a smaller tract. I probably will not go to a drag strip until I finish out some more mods I got planned. Are you going to go to this Performance Mitsu meet? If so, I'll see you there.

I hope some of you guys make it out to TWS, TMS, or MSR or even a little further north to Hallet to really open em up and enjoy those tires at optimal temps after a few warm up laps.
