Driver's Edge at TWS 3/6, 3/7

Is anyone planning on going to the Driver's Edge event at TWS on March 6th and 7th? I was thinking of trying it out.

I am contemplating going also. I have competed on that track before on my track bike but never in a car. My only hang up is i knid of was hoping to make the Vishnu tuning day. So many things to do, so little money.

I signed up last night, and Rick emailed me saying that there are still slots open for this event. I know Treefallen is going to be there in his STi.

Saw my man Bill Kim today for an alignment in preparation for the event. Holy crap was my car outta whack! I don't know if the last season of AutoX fudged it up that much or if the guys that did my alignment when I got the car were smoking serious crack. I supposedly had 0 toe all around at one point. But check this out:

Before:

Front Camber L/R: -1.2 / -1.6
Front Toe L/R: .5/.46 (0.96 total toe in!!!)
Rear Camber L/R: -0.9/-1.1
Rear Toe L/R: 0.31/0.18 (0.49 total to in)

I got the car aligned with the front strut bolts set to the -1 camber position. Then I cranked them to the -2 position myself. Since then the struts have been apart twice for my clutch install. It really cranked the toe in. Bill says all that toe in everywhere was probably making it harder to turn in and rotate.

After:

Front Camber L/R: -1.5/-2.0
Front Toe L/R: 0/0
Rear Camber L/R: -1.6/-2.0
Rear Toe L/R: 0.04/0.03

Slight toe-in in the rear to add a little stability to the car. We dialed the rear camber to match what we got on the struts up front. Obviously we managed more on the right than the left, so I should turn a little better to the left. The "after" settings were all done with me sitting in the car.

The car should be a completely different animal now. I can't wait to get it on the track! I made my hotel reservations last night, swapped in new brake pads last night. So I think I'm pretty much ready to go. All that's left is to get a new helmet and some driving shoes.

I wasn't planning on either, but I will need to make it up to MSR at some point to try that place out. I hear it's fun.

Is sportbikehype still doing their TMS days this year?

Everything I have seen for SBH's schedule has only listed bike days.. The jury is still out on whether $50 10+ session per day offerings will still be there for 2004.. It was perfect for getting 90% of a car setup dialed in.

The next three weekends there are events at MSR FWIW, 2/28+2/29 Prosche Club, 3/6+3/7 NASA, 3/14 Post Dyno Day Real World Application Event, heh. Decisions.. Decisions..

Yeah, I saw that Porsche Club one on dlbracing.com. Way too much racing going on.... I've got to try and not get too hooked. My girlfriend and bank account will thank me for it.

I am going to soulspeed next tuesday to get the same stuff done. What kind of pads did you swap in Iodine, are they the FerodoDS2500?
Alignement looks neet, with your weight you'll definitely see a difference would have been nice to have the opposite where you could get more camber on left, oh well. Which hotel are you at?

Yeah, Ferodo DS2500's. I think they're one of the few pads out that you can get for front and rear on the Evo.

I'm staying at the Motel 6 just up the street from the Manor and Days Inn. It's like 0.3 miles away according to Yahoo Maps. So I can probably just walk over for the Friday evening meeting.

As long as I have a hot shower, clean room, and a bed to sleep on I'm fine. I don't need much luxury... I won't even be in the room that much. They're also one of the few places left with room anyways. I guess something must be going on because pretty much every hotel in town seems to be booked.

Gee, you got my pads! Right, there is not much choice. But apparently they are worth the investment: last a long time and are a good combo street/auto-x/de pad.

I booked a room at LaQuinta. Will meet up at the mayor inn hotel for the meeting...still no news of MP5!

See you there

Yeah, but you have my wheels! Well mine don't have center caps like yours.

LaQuinta was too rich for my blood. Though a king sized bed and recliner in the room does sound awfully nice.

I'll be going to the MSR lapping days on 03/14.

What's MSR track schedule looks like? I mean like what time does the gate open and usually what time does the track goes hot?

Just curious...

What's consider to be a "decent" time at MSR?
