burned clutch smell

I was messing around with the yellow z06 at sterling bank saturday night after we left, and with heart throbbing excitment I managed to burn my clutch pretty good. (good enough to where it smelled pretty strong)

It's monday now and it still smells pretty bad (the car drives fine) -WILL THE SMELL GO AWAY? or will it go away in time

I had never pushed the Evo that hard ever. I took the Z06 everytime but he did manage to catch up to me after I was on 4th gear

Now I have much more respect for the Evo than ever before

I managed to do that all the time. Of course, I burnt my clutch out after 10500 miles. Still, way to represent. Might want to start a back-up clutch fund.

what is the best - strongest clutch to replace with

another thing - the z06 guy said he saw fire coming from my exhaust (because he was behind me) is that something I should worry about?

man if anyone, i know about the burnt clutch smell. i let my clutch slip at 6000rpm and ended up totally raping it in the process. now i have to replace it, and i only have 1100 miles on my car.

about getting a long lasting clutch. you better be ready to fork over at least $1500. you need a triple clutch or a carbon double clutch if you plan on doing what you did alot.

a word of advice that i got from a friend, who has lived through a racing accident, "Don't 'race' someone, do like a small race on the freeway. Say ur going 65mph and the truck or car next to you is doing 65. 'Race' him to like 80" and then you can say "Ohh well i raced such and such today and won." Its all about the mind set.

I've stopped racing i dont want to buy a new clutch or kill myself.

I raced this guy from a light at a stand still about 4 to 5 times, he started to get pissed so he started to try to roll into the green light (I was waiting at the light and he was behind about a car link - then he would start to creep up as the light would turn green)- I told him.. NO-WAY! Adios amigo!

You need to let the clutch cool down after a hard launch. Consecutive hard launches will burn the clutch pretty bad especially if you're slipping it too much. I would recommend a twin disc clutch by Exedy or Cusco for your clutch upgrade if you're willing to spend the money.

Burnt smell will go away in about 3-5 days.
Don't worry it'll still hold up strong . A friend of mine raced a mustang cobra on thursday and burnt it pretty bad . Then he went to the tracks on saturday and still ran 12.3 at 112.8mph 1.82 60ft ( track was dusty )

so don't sweat it all of us does bonehead stuff at times

Flames are normal if you removed your cat. Only thing to remember about the burnt clutch smell is that something is - quite obviously - burning, and it's the friction material on your clutch disk. You only have so much of that stuff to burn through before you have to replace it.

ok I guess i'm a bonehead too, went to the track, and after 4 runs of slipping the clutch at 6K+ RPMS it's now definetly done, i'm glad it made it home, smell is still there since friday i didn't touch the car yesterday, hopefully it'll hold up for one last drive to the shop... so with the whole clutch thing, is it the same as other things, u get what u pay for? and why is the cusco so good? I heard u can slip it and not havin to worry about it... and if that's the case, am i putting other things at risk? ie tcase etc... reply would be much apreciated since i am going to be needing one in the next couple days... thanks in advance.
