Posting for a friend, needs timing belt tool in Houston ASAP!!

Hi all, I'm posting for a friend in Houston who is in a bind. Circumstances are forcing him to HAVE to do the cam gear swap tomorrow and he doesn't have the tool. It's mitsubishi tool number MD 998738.the timing belt tool according to him. If you have one he can borrow contact him, not me, at (713) 385-5605 or sigfrid.ruz@plastomertech.com His name is Sigfrid. He'd also like to see a shop manual too but the tool is what he really needs.

Thanks,
Sam

I'm sure he'd like to meet y'all too but his car is down for the count right now. He gets his remapped ECU back tomorrow but he won't be able to run very well until he gets the cam gears in to work with the new programming. Anyone in your group have the tool he's looking for?

Sam

Off topic, but does anybody here have or know how to use the utech? We need somebody like Malibujack.

he can rent or lease the timing belt tool from any autoparts store like Autozone for free. I think it only costs like 20-25 bucks to buy it though.

Find a pin that will fit the tensioner (Mitsu has them for most of their cars)... mark where the tensioner bolts are to the engine (you’ll probably be able to see the bolt marks anyway when removed)... remove the whole tensioner... put it in a vise... compress it VERY slowly until you can get the pin in that will "lock it open". Re-install the tensioner where it was originally located. When your ready to tension the belt, pull the pin following the directions in the manual.

I have a lot of experience with the WRX UTEC - I'm thinking of getting the EVO one too It's really not that hard to work with in honesty.
