Concerns about EVO-GA

Not to take away from the official join me club thread, I'm starting a thread for us that may have some concerns over how EVO-GA is forming. I like the Idea of the club, but there are somethings I don't like about it.

Evolution Owners club of Georgia/// Southeast.

Hey guys, here is the official setup for the Club.

I’m going to explain the structure of the club first.

There are 2 divisions of the main club, Evolution Owners club of Georgia.

Evolution owners club of Georgia///Southeast

This is the heart of the operations. This will consist of all the Evolution owners from GA and Southeast and Only Evolution owners.

Uuder that, there will be a brother club operating separately.

Lancer Owners club of Georgia

This will be operated separately, however they will get all the benefit of dealer and vendor discounts. If we have enough owners to join, this could be a large club.

They will have seperate club and seperate events than Evolution Owners club. I believe that they will have different needs than Evolution owners.

To wrap up these 2 clubs, we will have a separate program under Evolution Owners club of Georgia.

Racers Unlimited.

This program consists of setup events for Auto X, Drag racing and road race.
All the Evolution owners club of Georgia and the Lancer owners club of Georgia will be joined automatically without fees.

This is where all the other cars could join. This is opened to every drivers who’s open to track racing. This not only promotes safe racing environment, but it gives an opportunity for the Evolution owners and lancer owners to network with other drivers. This will explain a little more about the club rule for other cars joining (the 13.5 sec 1/4mile rule). more on this later.

In my opinion the 13.5 rule should not exist. Why? What if you don't like to drag race, but like to just AUTO X? Should I(the autoxXer) have to pay the 20 bucks get in to my local drag strip just so i can be in the in the racers unlimited section.
Events for Racers Unlimited

Auto X.

From the start, we will have to do some piggy backing with some of the other more established clubs in the area, such as Viper Club, NSX club, Honda club and most likely the Porsche club and BMW club for track events like Auto X.

Within 6 month time period, we will establish ourselves to promote our own events, where members get discount and guest cars pay a bit more to pay for the track (Gwinett Faireground and tuner field).

Road Race

We will have a yearly event for the Road race where we will rent out a track for club owners only to do some runs. We probably have to fine tune how many events, I’m thinking 2 a year, but we’ll figure that as we go.

Drag Race.

This will be held at either Commerce GA or Steele AL. As many of you know how many runs you could get before you go home at Commerce. I’m working something out with Steele where we could get the whole day of fun for just Club members.

Drift competitions

For Evolution owners, this is sorta difficult, however we will setup this event, eventually for Racers Unlimited members who would like to participate.

For the Evolution Owners Club of Georgia///SouthEast

Everyone is automatically in the Racers Unlimited. If you’re serious about Auto X as well as drag racing, this is the place to do it. With the promotion of the evolution owners club, this program will ensure us that we’re not some parking lot club but serious participants.

Shows

Group event is planned for attending Nopi nationals and few other events. As sponsors kick in for few of you lucky members, you will have to attend various events locally, nationally and maybe even internationally. (We will talk about sponsorship at the meeting in detail)

We will also have few other Evolution based shows.

Owners appreciation days

We’ll talk about this at the meeting as well.

Sponsorships

We’ll talk about this at the meeting. We’ll talk about the requirement, how and who as well as what you need to have and need to do.

Benefits

As I mentioned earlier, benefits are first and most, networking with the other Evolution owners in the area. We will all give support, lend a helping hand and get everyones back that’s in the club. This is the first and most important reason.

Second reason would be to provide a playground for all of you racers at heart to see what you could do in a professional racing and driving environment. This not only support the racers, but puts us in a good terms with the law. (more on this at the meeting).

Third will be to concentrated vendor support. With one Evolution owners, this is hard to achieve, however as a club, this could be achieved fairely easy. If you goto a war together, you’ll likely win it then die. So, group buys for OEM parts (spark plugs, etc) will be held every 3 months or so on the website.

WEBSITE

As I mentioned the website will be Vbulletin powered. It’s going to be forum based. The reason for this is to open a line of communication with the vendors and sponsors and keep in contact with the events with other owners.

The website will feature articles, parts review, vendor review, dealers review (from Southeast) and featured cars.

I can’t stress enough that this is going to be a non-for profit website and organization. However, it will cost us to maintain it. I’m relying on vendors for support, so the members don’t have to pay. The vendors will pay to sponsor at the site at the most minimal amount of money just to pay for the hosting, etc.

However, there are going to be different people on the website, which I’ll discuss at the meeting.

Membership Cards.

This is fairely important thing that we will implement. The card will have the club logo, your tag number, vin number, your name, and your face on it.

To get benefits from vendors, you will have to have this to take the discounts. This wont be some “I left it in my other pants” deal. You have to have this with you, otherwise the vendors wont give you discount.

Also, you will have a small sticker on the left side of your car to make sure that the car being serviced is your car.

Along with light windshield banners (members choice), you’ll be all setup with these goodies.

Stickers of any kind should not be mandatory for getting a discount for service.

FEES

Now for all of you who’s interested in the club, here are the fees.

For the founding members : the price will be $25 initial fee.
This is fine. There are cost with setting up websites etc...

Monthly membership will be $8 month for everyone until the vendor kicks in for the web hosting and other license fees. I’m expecting at the end of the 6 month period, it’ll be good.
This is not good. There should be no monthly fee. If anything there should be a nominal yearly fee 25$ maybe and should be optional. If you don't pay the yearly fee then you get no club benifits, but still can hang out

The most of the initial membership fee will go towards the website and few stickers and membership card.

The benefit of joining now is that you will be first to be considered for the sponsorship as a founding member. Also, you guys get the first dip on things.

The initial membership fee will be applied to everyone who joins afterwards. This money will go all towards the members events. As I mentioned, this is not for profit organization. It’s only for members profits and benefits. Also, I will post every 3 months on how much money we have and how much we spent. That along with taking request for events that members want to setup and take opinion on how the money should be spent.

Initial membership fee will be applied to non founding members for 6 months. There after you don’t have to pay a dime.

This way, the founding members are covered in their monthly fee and the cycle goes on and on.

I will collect the dues for everyone who would like to join. I have to go purchase the forum license as well as domain name and host for the website.

Please contact me via pm for any questions you may have regrading the club and anything else.

Thanks, and this is going to be very exciting time in Southeast.

Remember, this will be a very active club.

I just can't justify spending money for just hanging out with other evo enthusiasts in a club.
The club should be more about getting together and having a good time with other EVO owners, Not about getting sponsors, discounts, and stickers. That stuff will come in time as the club grows. It seems like we are being a bit over ambitous. Also what about officer elections for the club? Will we vote for president, or will it be plokivos uber alles? You can just look where that got SEDSM A.K.A. DSMhorsepower with it always being one guy in charge.
We should think about being a sister club with 3si.org and gadsm.org You would be surprised what cool stuff come about when clubs come together. Look what happened with importshowdown. It started out as a track day with 3si and GADSM and blew up to be one of the southeasts biggest import events. I just think we need to take it slow and not just throw money at it and hope everything falls in to place. Baby steps my friends!

I agree with taking it slow, I've seen many clubs and organizations go up fast and go down just as fast.

We do need to vote for officers, so they can help maintain the club responsiblities.

About the 13.5 second rule...

" All the Evolution owners club of Georgia and the Lancer owners club of Georgia will be joined automatically without fees. "

About the 13.5 second rule, I don't think we should have that, as I also don't believe if its not a Evo, it shouldn't be in the EVOLUTION OWNERS club. My concern at first was about the lancers not being able to get in but we solve that now. Any other make wouldn't be right...

looks like it's a good concerns you guys have. Especially Godsmevo.

13.5 sec rules are only for non evo and non lancers. Like i said, we will discuss the requirement for the other cars joining the racers unlimited at the meeting.

I'm sure it doesn't have to have an requirement. But I will tell you this, once I talk to you about why's, you'll quickly understand, if you still haven't figured it out yet.

REgarding the monthly fee, this is what is needed for the website to start. it's a fairely nominal fee, since the website wont be for profit.

With the forum based website, you could make things happen with the vendors as well as big dogs.

If you feel as this is wrong, or you do not want to participate in the sponsorship program, vendor discounts, etc... it's really up to the members. Some people just want to sit around or street race then have sponsorships and race in solo I and II.

Sure you could go hang out with the members at the meetings, but on members appreciation days, you can't be a freeloader (as much i hate to say that...)

Most members I know will like a break from the dealers service department and discouts on parts and labour as well as dyno discount and tuning.

If I wasn't clear, the money you pay to help the website going will come back to you in some form or the other.

And it's true that we do this to hang out and have a good times. and the purpose of that is just that. However, we do it anyway, make it more organized and benefit from it. That's the whole point of this.

I don't know about you guys, but we were all hanging out doing the same things from last year, and it's been about a year since we kept at it. So this isn't something that happened over night, thoughts went into this and took some time before decision.

$8 month is quarter a day. If you can't spare .25 a day, i don't know how you afford an evo... maybe that's why you can't spare the money. lol j/k

anyway, i'm glad you started this here and not over at the membership forum.

thanks.
