Actually I was in the car with Jestr and I watched as he datalogged it and lancerevomann drove. The random misfire is not the problem the problem is that with your, turbotrix, tune the timing was not linear at all. The timing looked like a bunch of peaks and valleys and would fluctuate through the rpm band. It would start to go up towards redline but the it pull timing back. It looked like 10,12,14,12,15,11,15,12 and at 7900 timing was at a very low 14deg. Lancerevomann was there to see another dattalog that Jestr conducted just minutes before on a car he had just flashed and the timing went up till redline as it's supposed to, it looked like it should 11,23,14,15,16,18, and at 7900 the logger showed 20deg. Say what you will, but the timing on lancerevomann's car is not right and it is a result of your flash that he recieved at the aerocomp dyno day.

IF you chose another tuner thats fine .. but to say the car is tuned to aggressive to result random misfire code is not true

Mark,
I'm sorry I didn't mean to sound so harsh towards u or TT. I was just pissed when I posted the update and because I had spent $350 on the flash and my timing was so off. As soon as I get the datalog I will email it to u so u can see it. Maybe my car was the only mistake, I hope so, but I will let u see it.

Jestr Tuning Dyno Day

John is the man when it comes to ECUs

PM me if any of you are interested in a DYNO day at aerocomp.

I am trying to get a couple of more people interested in getting their cars flashed or just running on the dyno.

Once we get enough interest I will post up the date and time of the Dyno Day.

Thanks.

To your point ... Check the sample rate of your datalogger.. Any OBII data logger is very slow. His secondary timing and fuel maps are completely stock ... rendering the car very safe. The timing map if you had saw it was very Linear ... and those arent the timing values i use .. Good luck

Good excuses, but simply not true.

If you live in Florida, you need to talk to John, plain and simple.

I see this every time. In every aspect of life. One Vendor tunes/installs something; Then another Vendor gets a hold of it and allways finds something wrong! You can't judge things like that guys.

Take the car to a Dyno with one flash and then flash the new tuner maps and Dyno again. Then you can say the one is better than the other. Logs, track runs, butt dyno will not help much because of too many variables.

Most of the cars here in Central Florida are Jestr Tuned and all are doing very well. TT has many cars tuned up north and are also doing very well.

I had Mark custom tune my Evo open road racer, 345awhp that I took and ran at 6500 to 7000 rpm for 54 minutes at wide open throttle at Big Bend open road race. If there were any faults in the tune my car would never have held together, you street or drag guys don't even come close to that level of prolonged engine stress. I have proof that he is a good tuner.

I know the value of John's work. He is the only one that will touch my car. Everytime he tunes me he is at the graphs between runs. He doesnt recycle images from other cars.

Aside from Jestr I only have experience with the RMR flash (they stopped doing them), so I cant say anything about TT or Dynoflash.

One more thing about John is that you will never see him on these boards. He lets his reputation do the work.

I don't see Jestr saying one way or another as he does not get involved in these type of critiques. It would take repeated one gear pulls to check the linearity of the timing. Timing does not jump to 23 then down and up again. That must have been a shift before the pull. Timing dropping or holding after that would have been potentially knock or poor timing programming, either is no good for the car. Boost level, AIT and humidity all have to do with the log. What I can say is I would recommend a local tuner who has experience in FL humidity, heat and weather. What might work in the NJ catalog of flash tunes probably would not work well with our weather. The last local TT day I heard that they were flashing to 11.7 A/F which may work for Jersey, but is too lean for FL to deter knock. Jestr flashes were primarily developed in central FL which is why they work so well here.

Ok guys since I started the complaints in this thread let me calm this down and hopefully end it.

1) I have PMed Mark and showed him the graph. I apologized to him, but let me go ahead and state it publicly. I was wrong for publicly posting my complaints before sending him my graphs to analyze it. That was not fair, for that I'm sorry. I have no animosity towards Mark or TT. They do know what they are doing (obviously they have the fastest Evo in US) and is a solid company with a good repuation. They got their good reputation by producing quality results and products.

Mark did help me out when he found that my Buschur mbc was faulty and my boost was way beyond safe levels without having a fuel pump. For that I thank him.

Also when my cams were installed, I discovered one of my sparkplug caps was not snapped down all the way. Obvously this could effect the way the car runs.

2) I went with John's flash after I got my cams in. The car runs great. He is local so if I have any problems I can just call him and he can look at my car. I just thought it would be a better situation for me.

This was never meant to be a tuner bashing thread at all. Both tuners are great. I chose John for my recent tune and will stay with him in the future. Nothing against TT, just my personal preference.
