yea job rate is pretty decent....cost of living is pretty good (2 bedroom apartment is only like $600)
if you like mostly american then yea the car scene is pretty good...there is slowly become a more decent (not rice) scene in charlotte. even autocrossin is being held at NTI (nascar technical)
charlotte is the 2nd largest bankin capitol and is back up in case they need to relocate the stock market exchange etc...

Charlotte is a nice city. When I was living in Greensboro, I sometimes had to fly out from Charlotte airport. Nice pubs, resturants etc. Cost of living is cheaper than the west coast!
Raleigh is more of a Suburbia place compared to Charlotte.
BIG, BIG NASCAR country! watch out for drivers 'drafting' you on Hwy 85, 77

It's interesting to see these 'trains' of cars drafting each other down the freeway. Yes it saves gas. But you have to find out who to draft with to reach your destination faster

Looks like I'll be in Charlotte Wednesday through Saturday morning of this week (June 15th-18th). Can you guys suggest some highlights to see and a few places to eat lunch and dinner. Looking for more casual places since my 2 1/2 year old and wife will be with me.

Thanks!

Just got back from visiting Charlotte. A beautiful city and a much better place to raise a kid than SoCal. People were very friendly and housing prices were great compared to SoCal. Just waiting for an offer from the company that interviewed me.

I noticed a few other EVO owners in the Charlotte area from another thread. Are there any maintenance/tuning shops in the Charlotte area? Any weekly car meets going on? Can't wait to hit VIR, Road Atlanta, and Carolina Motorsports Park.

Congrats! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you on the job front.

Sounds like you had a great time visiting Charlotte. The downtown area is sort of like downtown L.A. but nicer/ smaller. Raleigh is the same as O.C. More green and more humid

As for shops, I know there are a couple of shops in the Greensboro area but not sure about the Mitsubishi ones. But since NASCAR and the teams are all around there it shouldn't be difficult to find a good shop for your Evo and 911.
When I was living there, a friend of mine brought his Porsche to a shop in Greensboro, the owner used to work for Jim Bushby (sp?) Miller Draft 962 and the Lowenbrau 962 team. And Korman Autowerks for BMW is there too. Foreign Cars Italia for all the exotics work. Also in GSO.

then for some racing fun look into SCCA.org website for the southeast region or Auto-x.com
