2005 Mountain Cruise
2005 Mountain Cruise
Ok here are the dirty details:
High Tach Mtn Cruise 2005 flyer
We start meeting at the NC Arboretum at 8am ($6 entry fee), snoop around at the flowers, look at the cars, then head out no later than 10:30am. Cars that show up get a small sticker to confirm that they are officially with the HTM cruise, rather than the other bandits who join later down the drive.
YOU WILL DRIVE SAFELY ON THE PARKWAY
From there we take the Parkway west until we get to our traditional lookout point to look at the scenery, talk cars, yada yada yada.
YOU WILL DRIVE SAFELY ON THE PARKWAY
Then off for a long drive to the Cherokee parking lot where we started last year. From there you can get lunch in Cherokee, go tubing, whatever. We will gather back up around 4:30pm to leave for Deal's Gap. You can leave on your own time, but it's always nice to travel as a group.
At Deal's Gap we will of course drive hwy 129/28 until our eyes get numb from seeing yellow lines. During the afternoon and night we'll be cooking out at the Fontana Village Resort, with some brews and burgers. w00t!
....and who knows, maybe we'll do some midnight runs

Thing is this year, we're not publicizing the event as much as the previous years. We're definatly going to have less cars, but we're going to still have a helluva time. I love the route this year!

To get to the Arboretum take Hwy 191 (off of Exit 33 shown above) towards the Biltmore Mall. Soon you'll see signs to the Blue Ridge Parkway, and shortly after the Arboretum will be on your right.
It's $6 to enter, so therefore $6 to be marked as being on the official cruise. At the arboretum I'll give everyone a rundown of how to drive, and give everyone a teeny tiny sticker to put on their windows to signify they're apart of the cruise... This is for the "bandits" that join in later, yet drive like asses.
The route is plainly illustrated by the graphic, if you have any questions then please ask.
A lot of us are staying at the Fontana Village Resort near the famous Deal's Gap (828-498-2211). That night we'll grill some burgers and drink plenty of burr.
Basically just a relaxing weekend in the mountains with fellow car enthusiasts. This year we're keeping the event smaller by shortening the notice, and the $6 entry fee at the Arboretum. So come if you can! You're sure to have a great weekend.

Here's a video from last year. I doubt the event will be as big this year, but you can get a feeling of what's going to go on.
