Florida smog/inspection

For those of you that live in Florida, do you guys have to have anykind of inspection or smog check? Can you remove all the cats. If not, how would you get caught?

Live in CA and consider having my dad co-register the car in FL so that I can get away from doing smog check here. NOt only that but by registering in FL, I think I can tint windows ALL Around. Put lights on the bottom, and basically not have to worry about getting pulled over for CVC equipment violations because it would have FL license plates.

Anyone done this?

FL does not have any inspections.

Even if the car is registered in FL, you are still required to abide to the laws of the state you have the car in. In other words, your tint might be legal in FL, but a California cop could ticket your for it....

Florida is awesome! No smog test and very easy on the regular type restrictions... California might have good weather but the smog tests and 91 octane gas are for the birds. Just move here to Florida and live the good life with no smog and you can have 93 octane gas.

Florida actually just recently stopped the emissions testing about 2 or 3 years ago.. THere are rumors that they will return, but we'll just have to see about that.. Although, just because you dont do smog testing, you CANNOT take off the cat legally.. Big felony if caught doing it actually... As long as a vehicle is being operated in any state, the car must abide by that state's laws.. Good luck!!

I doubt the average cop known the difference in appearence between a cat and straight pipe if they even actually take the time to look under your car.

Florida rocks... no emissions tests.

Cops in Florida are too lazy to look under the car. Only downside in Florida is the humidity..

I have been driving in FL for almost 15 years and there has never been any smog, or emmisions testing in those 15 years.

I had to do it in clearwater every year until they stopped a few years ago. It was only for the "polluted areas" of Florida.
