Daytona Mitsubishi Salesmen (Long rant!)
I went to Daytona Mitsubishi to take a look at the EB '05 they had and I'm walking away extremely p#ssed at the way I was treated. They were pretty rude over the phone when I called to inquire about the car but I decided to go and check it out since it's the only EB in the area. Sat down to get my financing together and they refused to believe the 0% offer applied to the Evo. I finally made the sales guy Tim look it up. Anyway, finance came back at a ridiculous 16.5% even with a co-signer (I'm 29 and as an engineer, I make more than enough to afford the car but all in all, nobody's fault but mine). I spoke to the finance guy Arnold the next day and he seemed willing to work with me. He got me financed through another company for 12.4% which is still a little high for me but close enough for me to look at putting more down.
Before the I could speak to Arnold about the financing (he's out today), yesterday, one of the salesmen, Brian (or was it Ryan?) Boswell, called me and hounded me about getting the car immediately. I told him I was going to speak to Arnold again and he hung up. Today, the other sales guy involved, Tim, calls me and hounds me again about closing the deal immediately. When I said I wasn't quite comfortable on my part with the financing (do I really want/need to pay $600 for 72 months when I can invest the money instead?), his response was 'Next time pay your bills. Your credit is **** anyway'. At that point I said 'Well you just made my decision easy' and hung up on him.
Seriously, I may not have the best credit and to be honest, if I felt that I was being treated right, 12.4% for a year and then refinancing it is not a big deal for me. But for them to say 'Your credit is ****' to me over the phone is going too far. If my credit is so bad and they act like they're doing me a favor by selling this car to me, then why are they calling me 2/3 times a day? Seems like they're more desperate to sell it than I am to buy it. I guess if they don't actually close the deal, they don't have to worry about a CSI so they can be complete d!cks.
Anyway, I just thought I'd share my experiences with any potential buyers with less than perfect credit and I'm sure others have experienced the same with other dealers. Like I said earlier, I'm not desperate to buy this car, I can wait 6 months and put 30% down on a IX which I probably will now. Sorry for the long post!

Yeah I sell cars and that is a b.s. way of dealing with a customer. I just get them the best rate their credit score dictates and they can either buy or not buy. Hell if my customer wants to speak with a finance mgr. that can be arranged.
I know, that was totally bullsh!t. Anyway I just got a call from my credit union and I was approved for 4% for 60 months! Go figure.....at least now I don't have to worry about going back to Daytona Mitsubishi!

BTW, that evo has probably sat there for close to 4-6 months now, I drive by it everyday on the way to work
I feel your pain about screwy dealerships.Carmax gave me 9.9% with credit score in the mid 600's.I said go ahead and close the deal but beware because I'm going to refi as soon as I get the car registered. They just looked at me dumbfounded.I shopped around and in less than a month found a credit union that gave me lower payments,no down payment, and shorter term. Now go get your EVO.

I love this forum!!!! You guys have been so encouraging, thank you! Now, since I'm approved for 4%, do you think I should try and get the 0% through Mitsubishi?
HAHAHA, better not push my luck, I've already had 2 credit inquiries in 3 days!
Oh yeah, and I have to give all the credit (no pun intended) to my wife who's had to put with me for the past 3 years going on and on about the Evo!
mattfl, thanks for the tip, I'll be sure to remind them of it IF I do get it from them!
Hook 'em!!!!!

Well that 0% financing deal isn't for everyone, it's just a way to get people there and they'll try to use anything they can as an excuse to not honor it. If they try to screw you over on the financing because of your credit, the best thing to do is talk to a bank or credit union on your own and see if they can get you a better deal than going through Mitsubishi. Btw is the $600 a month with or without SSL?

I would guess that you are in the 550-619 range. Not a knock, I just work in credit daily and is my educated guess.
actually, close...635. my wife is 725 so we qualified for 4% joint through our credit union and as of last Friday, I am a proud (and very happy) owner of an '05 TB w/ SSL!!
Needless to say, I'm paying a lot less than the $599 for 72 months they 'offered' me and also needless to say, I didn't get my Evo from Daytona Mitsu.
