CMP Last Weekend

Spent last Saturday at Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, SC. What a great track. I've tracked a few cars over the years including an E36 M3, Miata, Mini Cooper, and two Porsche's and the EVO continues to amaze me with how great it is for the money. Its also so easy to drive fast. It never gives me those "O ****" moments that some of my previous cars gave me.

I could go on an on but here are some crappy pics and a video of one lap behind some Porsches who were driving slow.

nice pics and video! I went there over the summer in my s2000. I am considering going there this weekend, as a spot opened up for a trackday

Seeing the video really makes me want to go back there and see how much better I can do with the evo over the s2k.

Good stuff, too bad about being in back of the Posches, an "open" lap would be cool to see. CMP is a really good track for the Evo, because it fits with both the transitions on the "long" side and the bursts of acceleration out of the tight corners on the short side.

CMP is 26 Miles from my house, so it should be considered my home track, i have probably 100 hours there, 60 or so side-seat instructing and about 40 driving it. But only 8 laps there in an Evo. (One Lap of America 2003)

I want to get some more time there or bring the AMS car out for one of the events. (I think the AMS car could safely do a 1:43 on street tires at CMP.)

It would be great to have an EVO only day but I doubt there would be enough people. A handful of us could just sign up for the next event there and have a blast. There's actually one going on this weekend but I can't make it. There's also an event at VIR next Sunday I was thinking of going to.

Who knows? If it was something planned out in advance, turn out could be good. Besides, people from surrounding areas may make a trip for something like that.

I wouldn't mind going to an EVO cmp event, as long as my wife could also come with her STi.

Hey, that's cool with me. The more the merrier. A day like that sounds like something that could work if people were given enough time to plan for it, etc.
