TN emissions question

May be relocating from NY to nashville. Was just wondering if you guys in TN have the sniffer test and require cats to be present?

There perform a visual cat check (using a mirror), they dont do a sniffer test, but they do hook up to your OBDII port.

So, if you are running a test pipe, just take it off when you get tested, and put your cat on. After the test is complete, put the test pipe back on.

Huh? I live in Nashville and at my last inspection they stuck the sniffer in my tailpipe. No ODB check. Have they changed it?

Maybe I should be more specific. When I took both of my cars to the emissions testing down on Cool Springs Blvd they did not use a sniffer. However, technically speaking that is in Williamson County. Perhaps Davidson County is different.

Even then, where you get tested doesnt matter. Rather only where you get your tags renewed does matter.

Which test facility did you go to?

I live in Wilson Co and get tested at the station on Central Pike in Davidson Co. I haven't taken the EVO yet since I just got it last month, but on my 02 Accord they hooked it up to the OBD-II.

WTF are you guys talking about? I've never heard of anyone in TN getting an inspection. Is that just a Nashville thing?

must be. I live in nashville and you can't get your car registered or renewed without an emissions test. What that consists of is obviously still under debate.
