NC - I may need some cam install help

Im going to be getting a set of 280/280 comp cams and fidanza gears and was wondering if anybody in the Fayetteville/Raleigh area would like to help me do the install.

Id like to do the install myself but want somebody their who's done it before just as a sort of advisor.

If anyone's interested Id be willing to pay for gas, food, , time, etc.... but it wouldnt be much since Im in the Army and well, the pay isnt all that great

Thanks
Chris

oh yeah - feel free to tell me any tips you may have on the install

I'm in wilmington, also did mine. Very easy to do. Just make sure you're meticulous about everything and check, check and RECHECK your timing.

EvoM has install instructions. I've done it myself. You can PM members TurboDawg or KTT for tips. The hardest part was breaking the cams bolts IMO. Otherwise, it's just time...

You'll also need a timing belt tensioner tool if you're going to change camgears.

EDIT: the advance autoparts # for it tool#6001. Ask them to look it up on their computer, it may come up as a chrysler tool.

No unless the one you have needs to be replaced you will not need a new one.

You dont need to change the valve cover gasket, especially if you dont have a ton of miles. The more miles you have the higher the likelihood you'll need to change it IMO. When I changed to 272 HKS' about two months ago the gasket was like new but my car only had about 5,500 miles on it. When I changed them on my eclipse a couple years back when it had about 50k miles on it, the gasket needed to be tossed in the garbage. Hopefully you'll find someone to help you out. If I was closer, I'd help out someone in the military for free for appreciation sakes. Goodluck.

This link has some pretty good info on the procedure.

http://forum.aempower.com/bbs/viewforum.php?f=22

BTW, I found -3 degrees exhaust, -2 degrees intake with 280's gave me the better idle and when dyno'd was up there w/ HP too....every set-up is different though.

I think Im going to run +2/0 on the gears

it was recommended to me by another member that did a few tests and apparently it adds torque w/ no loss in hp. but like you said every set-up is different and Ill see how it works out for me when I go to the track and post some results
